The Director, Strategic Marketing for Respiratory Support Products is responsible for establishing and driving the global sales and marketing strategy for Masimo’s respiratory support products sold to acute care, sub-acute care, and homecare markets. The foundation of Masimo’s new respiratory support products category is the innovative softFlow 50 Nasal High Flow (NHF) ventilatory support device developed by TNI Medical in Germany, which Masimo acquired in the spring of 2020.
Although Masimo’s respiratory support products are clinically and strategically complementary to several of Masimo’s existing and future monitoring solutions, this product category is new to Masimo, increasing the need for experience and skills developing and driving a sales and marketing strategy. This position will report to the SVP of Strategic Business and Market Development. In addition to playing a leading role in the development and execution of the go-to-market strategy for the current respiratory support products, the Director, Strategic Marketing will be responsible for collaborating with Engineering, Sales, Regulatory, and other departments to identify product line enhancements which would more effectively differentiate and improve the value proposition of existing products, in addition to leading the collaborative effort for our next generation products.
The Director, Strategic Marketing ill also be responsible for identifying the clinical and strategic implications of findings from clinical studies involving Masimo and competitive respiratory support products. In addition, this role will work with Product Managers, Marketing Communications, New Hire Training, Sales Support, and other functions to ensure sales collateral, messaging, and sales training are aligned with the go-to-market sales & marketing strategy established for these products.
Duties & Responsibilities
Collaborate with SVP of Strategic Business and Market Development to develop go-to-market sales strategies designed to obtain targeted revenue, market share, and profitability.
Drive the coordination and execution of go-to-market strategies with leadership for sales, clinical support, and region-specific marketing personnel.
Play a lead role in establishing product pricing and promotions, competitive and market research, and the development of sales tools such as videos, clinical studies, and whitepapers.
Lead product launch/updates via collaboration with cross-functional teams including Product Marketing, Engineering, Regulatory, Marketing Communications, & Technical Services.
Review and interpret findings from clinical studies, and use this data to develop evidence-based differentiation strategies as well as identify product development needs and opportunities.
Lead product messaging, and work with Marketing Communications to develop sales collateral.
Provide product & application-based support on an as needed basis for key sales opportunities.
Establish and develop a network of Physician and Respiratory Care Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs).
Provide clinical application/product expertise support for Sales Training.
Identify long-term market development needs and opportunities including clinical research, product development, and possible business development opportunities.
8+ years medical device experience, including at least three years driving sales and marketing strategy for non-invasive ventilator support products.
High level analytical skills required to identify and validate needs and opportunities.
Strong collaboration skills, experience and proven results.
Experience and proficiency with downstream and upstream marketing tasks and processes.
Strong familiarity with product development lifecycle and successful experience with FDA and international medical device regulatory processes.
Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal and experience presenting to diverse and high-level audiences.
Successful experience leading marketing strategies for Nasal High Flow devices.
Successful experience serving as the clinical application/product expert supporting field-based strategic sales opportunities.
Proficient in leveraging CRM software such as Salesforce.com to monitor activity and results of go-to-market strategy and related initiatives.
Prior experience with data analysis and business intelligence programs.
Bachelor degree in Marketing, Engineering and/or Lifesciences discipline. MBA preferred, but not a minimum requirement.
Physical requirements/Work Environment
This position primarily works in an office environment. It requires frequent sitting, standing and walking. Daily use of a computer and other computing and digital devices is required. May stand for extended periods when facilitating meetings or walking in the facilities. Some local travel is necessary, so the ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid Driver’s license is required.
