This position requires familiarity with the terminology of the office unit. The General Clerk III selects appropriate methods from a wide variety of procedures or makes simple adaptations and interpretations of a limited number of substantive guides and manuals. The clerical steps often vary in type or sequence, depending on the task.
Job duties include but not limited to:
Tracking program contracts and technical service provider projects; reviewing and assembling documentation and certification required for contracts and payments. Processing applications and certifications of eligibility; reviewing payment requests and verifying payment documents to ensure complete information is provided and all data is added to the files or matched properly.
Establishing a schedule for regular visits to field offices and develops a quality review process for use by field offices to assist landowners.
Assisting agency staff with program documentation, including but not limited to preparing and processing documents and correspondence, checking documents for accuracy and completeness, gathering information, reconciling payment documents, recording data, establishing, and maintaining files, and transmitting information.
Assisting staff with records management and correspondence, mail management and distribution, and other administrative services in support of any NRCS program or operation.
Assisting with fleet management such as coordination, maintenance scheduling, monitoring usage, etc.
Answering telephone; greets visitors, and signs for incoming deliveries.
Interacting with the public in an office setting. Will also work directly with NRCS employees, conservation partners, other contracted employees, and employees from other Federal agencies.
Minimum qualifications must be as follows:
Possess valid state issued drivers license, violations must be noted before use of Government Vehicle
Knowledgeable and experienced in utilizing a variety of computer hardware and peripherals
Proficient in software applications, such as Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat Professional
Ability to learn and utilize agency specific software and web-based applications.
Knowledgeable and experienced in operating office machines such as copiers and scanners
Familiarity with certified mail and return-receipt mail procedures
knowledgeable and experienced in general office procedures, such as preparing reports, spreadsheets, and filing
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Skillful in working with the public
Capable of working independently
Possess basic telephone skills.
Some college preferred
High school diploma/GED required
