Job Description:
V2X is looking to hire a project engineer to fill the role of Production Chief Engineer supporting our Weapon Systems Integration Team in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The Production Chief Engineer will be a member of a dynamic and multidisciplined development team within V2X. The Production Chief Engineer provides the single engineering technical point of contact with the Office of the Chief Engineer, Program Office, the customer, and other external entities for the production-centered programs within the Weapon System Integration (WSI) programs.
The Production Chief Engineer will engage in the following roles:
Support technical and cost estimation efforts for Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Configuration Management (CM) activities
Lead and/or support engineering studies
Participate in Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) with customer and subcontractors
Prepare status and briefings for management
Support the Risk and Opportunity Board for programs
Represent Engineering on Failure Review Boards (FRBs)
Operate in the best interest of the user and provide “Voice of the Customer”
Act as a “Face of V2X” to senior technical customers for programs
Leverage the core production support team to quickly resolve production floor issues
Elevate issues and risks to appropriate levels within the Program Office, WSI Chief Engineer, and Engineering management, as required
Chair internal technical reviews (e.g., Production Readiness Reviews [PRRs], FRBs, Consent to Ship [CTS] Reviews)
Represent Engineering on Material Review Boards
Lead technical collaboration with internal and external customers who pursue new production/repair opportunities
Ensure contractual and internal technical/production processes are established and maintained on programs
Guide technical solution development with emphasis on transition to production activities
Chair and provide technical direction to the Engineering Review Board (ERB) and support the Program Office as the technical chair to the Configuration Control Board (CCB)
Actively collaborate with the WSI Chief Engineer to ensure alignment between the program’s efforts and the WSI area product/technology strategy
Work closely with Mission Assurance/Quality to support factory or vendor non-conformances
Support the Program Office in monthly program reviews
Oversee staff forecasting for programs
Mentor team members as needed
Project Engineering is a specialized field within engineering that focuses on planning, managing, and executing projects. It combines technical expertise with project management skills to successfully achieve project objectives.
Project Engineering demands a robust understanding of the project life cycle, and its deliverables, to guarantee that plans and performance criteria are adequately aligned for project success. Typically, project engineers possess extensive engineering experience, particularly in the development and execution of engineering projects. This expertise, combined with systems engineering skills and proficiency in mechanical, software, and electrical integration, helps develop the technical knowledge required to ensure that project deliverables adhere to the agreement's specifications. This experience equips project engineers with the proficiency, management capabilities, and holistic understanding necessary to effectively oversee and integrate complex systems, leading to the successful delivery of engineering initiatives.

Education Requirements:
12+ years with a Bachelor of Science in a STEM related field
Masters degree in a STEM related field or MBA preferred
