Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Pharmacy Resident you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact as an integral part of our hospital pharmacy team as you take part in a one year post-graduate training program designed to train pharmacy practitioners in all major aspects of inpatient pharmaceutical services. Members of our pharmacy team consider themselves a family where each member works hard to support each other. We are looking for someone who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do. In this Pharmacy Resident role:

  • You will interact with patients, their significant others, and health care team members while maintaining professional standards in serving patients of all ages.

  • You will interpret, transcribe, and/or verify orders accurately into the pharmacy computer system.

  • You will compound and dispense prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals for patient care.

  • You will monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug and food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose.

  • You will sustain the hospital formulary by minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic interchanges and promoting rational drug therapy selection.

  • You will act as a drug information resource to patients, medical staff, nursing staff, and ancillary department personnel.

  • You will supervise pharmacy support personnel, technicians, pharmacy students, pharmacy interns/externs, volunteers, and the pharmacy procurement specialist.

  • You will provide basic technical support for automated dispensing machines and other pharmacy computer systems. You will serve as a patient therapeutic advocate with efforts directed toward continuous quality improvement of pharmacy services

What qualifications you will need:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date

  • Pharmacist

  • Doctorate Degree, or Bachelors Degree must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
