  • The Job As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer, you will have oversight of all compute and storage technologies, having direct involvement and impact on day-to-day activities and project work streams. You will be an expert in architecting, designing, installing, configuring, and maintaining our company’s enterprise computing platforms which enable critical workflows. Our technical footprint consists of virtualized and bare metal systems that are deployed on-premises and in the cloud; We are responsible for supporting a large range of business stakeholders and workloads from general computing to resource intensive development applications. The Lead infrastructure engineer will bring a high-level of expertise in the administration of Linux and Windows server operating systems both on-premise and in the cloud. A background in VMWare virtualization and proficiency in Ansible/Chef/Jenkins automation platforms are preferred. A thorough understanding of server hardware and OS architecture, advanced networking and advanced storage solutions is necessary in this role. You will be responsible for all areas of the system development lifecycle including management, planning, provisioning, triage, monitoring, and decommissioning of operating systems and associated hardware technologies. You will document solutions ensuring best practices are followed and update stakeholders related to system changes. You will partner with peers and management staff on capacity planning analysis and monitoring methodologies. Concurrently you will also perform application installation and configuration into the respective virtualization platforms while providing tier three support for applications hosted within said platforms. This position involves support of compute, storage, and cloud technologies and end-users across various Warner Bros. Discovery locations across the globe.

Your Role Accountabilities:

Engineering/Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide direction or guidance to less experienced staff comprised of compute and storage focused engineers

  • Must be capable of making sound decisions in the absence of detailed instruction; Create, implement, and maintain policies, standards, and guidelines to implement, support, and protect our IT assets.

  • Architect, build, maintain, and support compute and storage delivery platforms based on technical requirements provided by application, and business stakeholders.

  • Leads critical patching and vulnerability remediations on storage arrays and subsystems

  • Leads the configuration, management, and maintenance of active directory and group policy

  • Design, install, configure, and manage storage areas networks (SAN), network attached storage (NAS), and associated fibre-channel switching fabrics (Brocade/Cisco MDS)

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and manage VMWare vCenter, vSphere ESXi, and Aria Operations/Automation software

  • Responsible for administering scalable virtual machine infrastructure in both a private and public cloud environment.

  • Tune multiple operating systems and applications to increase performance and reliability of services.

  • Provision and configure various Linux operating systems, server hardware, and core server applications/functions.

  • Implement,

  • Assist with critical patching and vulnerability remediations.

  • Create and maintain documentation. Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and latest technology trends

  • Participates in all application integration design sessions.

  • Other duties and projects as assigned and in a timely fashion.

Operations

  • Leads regular monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of all infrastructure solutions to ensure performance, capacity, and four nines reliability; accepts ownership and seeks timely resolution.

  • Collaborates with developers and other stakeholders to ensure software is performing correctly and efficiently utilizing best practices.

  • Automate systems administration tasks utilizing open-source configuration management tools.

  • Ensure the highest levels of up-time; Respond to system alerts quickly ensuring that all aspects of our systems infrastructure are at production levels.

  • Implement and use monitoring tools, patch management tools, and application management tools.

  • Handle Tier 3 (complex) issues providing advanced support and triage of end-to-end virtualized environments; Works with the vendor as needed.

  • Must be willing to accommodate weekend, shift, or on-call schedules when necessary.

Analytics

  • Develop comprehensive performance analysis of business processes and review ways of improvement.

  • Actively participate in stakeholder meetings with the goal of understanding all major projects and initiatives planned.

  • Design and implement backup, disaster recovery or business continuity strategies

Qualifications & Experiences:

  • Candidate must possess 8-10 years of experience in either a Systems Administration or Engineering role demonstrating proven experience with distributed systems, all operating systems, advanced systems and storage troubleshooting.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required.

  • Candidate must have demonstrated lead / hands on experience with the following technologies:

  • Linux and Windows server operating systems (RHEL, CentOS, Windows Server 2016/2019/2022)

  • Backup and recovery software (i.e. Veeam, CommVault, NetBackup, Dell DPS)

  • VMware vSphere ESXi, vCenter, and Aria automation setup, deployment, and maintenance

  • Deep understanding of storage technologies and protocols ( i.e. iSCSI, NFS, SMB/CIFS) and hardware (EMC, NetApp, Dell, Pure)

  • Active directory and/or single sign-on methodologies.

  • Scripting (powershell, bash, python) are a plus.

  • Candidates should have a passion for scripting/coding automation tools and technologies that improve system infrastructure and provisioning.

  • Proven track record in managing complex server hardware, operating systems, and storage (SAN/NAS/Object) solutions.

  • The candidate must have excellent communications skills to be successful.

  • Self-starter with ability to organize information and produce technical documentation for operational effectiveness.

  • Position requires after hours support for outages/impairments. Candidates will participate in a 24x7 on call support rotation.

Not Required but preferred experience:

  • Familiarity with Amazon AWS or Azure Cloud environments (hybrid-storage)

  • Experience with enterprise computing and storage in a media broadcast environment.

  • Relevant operating system and/or storage certifications
