Job Description
The successful candidate will support the ER63/Thrust Vector Control Test Laboratory. Provide technical leadership for test and instrumentation systems including procedure development and systems operations & maintenance support . Support will include testing, modifications and maintenance of test equipment, setup/modification of data acquisition, including instrumentation and controls, and other support as required. You will also get the opportunity to work alongside our engineers and senior level technicians, to conduct Thrust Vector Control subsystem and component testing.

Responsibilities
Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
• Provide practical application of engineering skills to perform test engineering projects for instrumentation systems to meet stakeholder expectations, system functional requirements, and NASA program requirements.
• Conduct system testing & validation, troubleshoot & investigate equipment failures, interpret data, and analyze technical drawings & schematics to resolve anomalies and provide corrective action.
• Attain engineering, system, and console certifications for support of instrumentation operations.
• Interface with customers (internal & external), peers, technicians, and management to satisfactorily complete tasks on schedule and within budget.
• Support preparation of conceptual design packages, system requirements documents, technical assessments, cost estimates, operation & maintenance procedures, and provide hands on support from operation & maintenance of electrical systems.
• Perform assigned tasks in a safe and appropriate manner in compliance with company, customer, industry, and governmental codes and regulations.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge through self-study, attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and/or participation in professional societies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
The candidate must possess a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering disciplines from an ABET accredited school with a minimum of 15 years of experience.
Job Requirements
• Experience in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, and hardware assembly and wiring diagrams for control and data acquisition systems .
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, including control system software designs that control temperature, pressure, flow, force, motion of mechanisms, and other advanced process and electromechanical systems.
• Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), and Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming and software development is a plus.
• Knowledge of software platforms test & measurement, instrumentation, high-speed data acquisition, such as LabView, C++, Visual Basic, and Allen Bradley PLC's/RS Logix.
• Experience in operating and maintaining test support equipment or systems desired.
• Experience in a paperless work environment and use of eTPS work order authoring/execution systems desired.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70E standard and preferably certified.
• Ability to read schematics, drawings, and engineering specifications.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
• Experience working as a member of a formal team and be able to function as such immediately.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to present information to senior management and customers.
• Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision and only general guidance.
• Computer experience with Microsoft Office products and internet browsers.
• If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.
Physical Requirements
• Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%).
• Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and our facilities (10%).
• Requires work in a test facility environment including physical labor (lifting/moving equipment, parts, test components, boxes). 80% (working with other technicians on electrical/wiring, instrumentation and controls, and data acquisition of TVC Test Lab test stands and equipment).
• May be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting.
• Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other associated personal protective equipment.
• Position is located in a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
Work Environment
• Office and laboratory environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%).
• May be required to work inside and outside throughout the test laboratory.
• Position may require individual to travel up to 5% of time.
• Position will require occasional work at heights and confined spaces.
• Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
• All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.
Equipment and Machines
• LabVIEW, a graphical programming environment for designing and developing measurement and control systems is used extensively in this lab and Electrical Test Engineer must be proficient at utilizing this software tool.
• This position requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).
Attendance
• Normal workday is from 7:30 a.m. through 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
• Regular on-site attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required.
• Position may require occasional overtime, including weekend work, depending on task.
• Must be dependable and punctual.
Other Essential Functions
• Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
• Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.
• Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
• Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
