Job Description:

We are seeking a Principal, General Counsel to support both Aerojet Rocketdyne (AR) businesses, Missile Solutions and Space Propulsion and Power Systems with respect to federal procurement law issues, including prime and subcontracts with the U.S. Government. In this role you will provide advice and counsel to AR Executive management and also AR suppliers, applicable team members, and customers as it relates to U.S. government contract law.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare and advise Executives on all potential legal issues, topics, and legislative initiatives

  • Provide counsel regarding the legal implications of all matters pertaining to the operations of the business and resolution of discontinued operations

  • Apply a strong working knowledge of laws and regulations affecting the operations of the businesses

  • Assist Aerojet Rocketdyne Executives in setting policies and strategies from the legal platform, with emphasis on enterprise-wide risk management

  • Participate with senior management in setting and implementing the Company's strategy for growth

  • Work closely with senior management and business leaders to maintain a culture of compliance regarding regulatory and legal mandates while fostering successful business growth

  • Establish processes, structure, methodologies and procedures in the legal functions, as needed or required

  • Proactively monitor industry and regulatory trends, especially focusing on the changing environment

  • Maintain clear and regular communications with senior management, appropriate stakeholders, and external constituencies

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant Legal experience

  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related Legal experience

  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related Legal experience

  • 3-5 years of in-house experience at a Federal Contractor or major law firm

  • Strong communications, analytical, negotiations, and problem solving skills

  • Consistent attention to detail - completes tasks per standard operating procedures

  • Reports discovered anomalies and inconsistencies

  • Persistent and creative problem solver - strong troubleshooting skills and determined to find solutions to technical problems

  • Identifies root cause and presents possible solutions to management

  • Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited Law School

  • Licensed member of the Bar of any US State or the District of Columbia

    In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $122,000.00 - $226,000.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
