The Lead Software Systems and Development Engineer will be responsible in supporting two projects within the Flight and Ground Software division Telescience Resource Kit (TReK) and Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA). This position requires versatile skillset of lead Systems Engineering focused on Data Analysis Architecture, Design and Develop requirements, cloud technologies, and a strong software development background.

TReK Software Development Roles and Responsibilities

Collect, interpret, and implement system requirements.

Participate in component and system concept designs.

Experience with and proficiency in:

o Designing, developing, and testing web-based solution for command and telemetry system

o Object Oriented Design and Implementation

o C/C++ programming language

o Integration of third-party libraries

o Agile processes

LISA Software Systems Engineering Roles and Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the LISA project requirements and the hardware and software.

Ensure and work with the project to have an understand of interface definitions and requirements with the LISA partners.

Approve hardware and software verifications for a LISA NLAC project.

Identify issues with the hardware and software design, development, integration, and test and coordinating them with the Project Manager, the LISA technical team, and the LISA partners and stakeholders.

Lead coordination/integration of options and recommendations for technical issues on the LISA NLAC project.

Provide coordinated/integrated options and recommendations to the CE on issues involving TA.

Assist the CE by coordinating the support of team members in anomaly/ failure/discrepancy investigations.

Provide unbiased technical positions to CE acting as first level of technical conscience.

Additional Duties

Serve as the Software Systems Engineering with focus on Data Analysis Architecture for the LISA project.

Design and Develop requirements for the LISA project Data Analysis Architecture

Develop and maintain the LISA project's Software process documentation (Software Develop Plans (SDP), and Design Documents (SDD).

Provide coordinated/integrated options and recommendations for software technical issues or concerns.

Design, develop, and test web-based solution for command and telemetry system.

Job Requirements:

A degree in systems engineering, industrial engineering, software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or another related engineering discipline is required. A degree from an ABET-accredited university is preferred.

Typically, educational requirements:

Ph.D., with minimum of 14 years of experience MS with at least 18 years of experience BS with at least 20 years of experience

The candidate should be experienced in the following:

15+ years experience in NASA missions and projects activities

Knowledge of NASA MSFC engineering processes and standards (7123, 7150)

Basic understanding of data center requirements and operations

Strong organizational skills and Ability to work independently and within a diverse team.

Ability to build and work effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Effective communication

Working with a software development team in an Agile Development Environment

General knowledge of software data analysis tools: Metadata formats, data structure, and database .

General knowledge of software Data Handling, and Integration.

Proficient in C/C++ programming language.

Familiarity with software languages: Python, XML, JAVA, or other object-oriented languages.

Familiarity with Object Oriented Design and Implementation.

Experience with integration of third-party libraries.

Familiarly with Agile processes.

Familiarity with software containerization and cloud technologies

Ability to complete tasks with minimal oversight, as well as multi-task and be roactive in between formal assignments.

Good oral, written, interpersonal, communication, and customer relation skills - must be able to clearly define and describe a technical subject to peers across various engineering disciplines.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook).

General knowledge of NASA NPR 7150.2.

General knowledge of Agile or other similar software methodologies.

General knowledge of government standards and requirements.

Familiarity with Atlassian tools is preferred but not required.
