Nou Systems, Inc. Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) Engineer in Huntsville, Alabama

nou Systems, Inc. (nSI) enables our customers by supplying products, services, and expertise with powerful, data driven insights that transform defense systems and improve capabilities.

We are pleased to announce the opening for a Machine Learning (ML) engineer who will join our Technical Solutions division in Huntsville, Alabama and become part of our rapidly growing technology company operating in missile defense, cybersecurity, test range modernization, biotechnology, and space control marketspaces. You will be part of a team applying machine learning to advanced defense applications.

Responsibilities:

You’ll develop, train, and analyze ML models to both classify and predict data series. In this role, you’ll help prepare data, research and evaluate ML models from open literature, adapt those models to specific and new fields, and communicate your results in written documents and oral presentations. You’ll work on a mix of projects, some of which will include other data scientists, others of which will require you to help educate non-data-science teams on the value and limitations of machine learning solutions.

This is a mid-level position. You’ll need demonstrated experience with machine learning. The wider the range of ML problems you’ve tackled, the better, from those with small data sets and limited model selection to larger datasets and more cutting-edge models. We often operate in data-constrained environments and those where cloud-based tools are unavailable, so while experience with feeding immense data-lake-hosted information through Kubeflow pipelines or developing models on Google Colab is nice, you won’t often work on projects where those tools are available.

Basic Qualifications:

  • You must have a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field. A computer science or software engineering degree is preferred.

  • You will need 4 years of full-time professional experience.

  • You must possess an active SECRET clearance.

  • You must be a U.S. citizen to be eligible for this position.

Lacking any one of these disqualifies you from this job.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High degree of technical competence in Python, data preprocessing, feature selection, and data analysis.

  • Demonstrated technical competence and ingenuity in one of the areas identified above.

  • Strong intellectual curiosity.

  • Demonstrated experience explaining technical concepts and data analysis results to non-specialist audiences, both through written documents and oral presentations.

  • Demonstrated experience deploying ML models into production environments.
