Summary
Provides professional patient care by evaluating, planning, implementing, and documenting physical therapy treatments. Administers therapy in accordance with physician orders, utilizing therapeutic procedures and assistive devices to maximize functional potential. Develops and adjusts individualized treatment plans with achievable goals based on patient needs. Supervises and collaborates with Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) regarding treatment procedures and ensures appropriate oversight of patients. Educates patients, families, and caregivers on therapeutic exercises and home programs for continued progress after discharge. Ensures timely and accurate documentation and billing. All care is provided in alignment with hospital and rehabilitation department policies, the Indiana State Practice Act, the American Physical Therapy Association, and The Joint Commission.
Education
Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program.
Degree requirements:
Bachelor's degree required if graduated before 1/1/2016.
Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) required if graduated after 1/1/2016.
International candidates must hold at least a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy. DPT preferred.
Licensure/Certification
Must hold or be eligible for a Physical Therapist license in the state of practice within 90 days of employment.
CPR certification required within the first 90 days of employment.
Must maintain all required certifications and licensure.
American Physical Therapy Association membership preferred.
If assigned to drive a company vehicle, a valid driver’s license is required. If using a personal vehicle, proof of insurance is also required.
Experience
No prior work experience required beyond clinical experience within an accredited training program.
Other Qualifications
Ability to lift 50 pounds, assist with 100 pounds, and potentially push up to 300 pounds.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Willingness to work at multiple locations as assigned.
