Exceptional opportunity for a Patient Companion to support our vision and serve with us as a compassionate and transforming healing presence in our community. We seek Remarkable individuals from a variety of backgrounds, because diversity makes us stronger.

Per Diem position, scheduled 0 hours per week with a weekend and holiday commitment with the ED.

Patient companions (sitters, attendants) perform specific patient care activities as assigned by the patient's RN considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs.

· Setting up food tray, assist with eating

· Assisting patient with basic hygiene needs (bathing, brushing teeth)

· Offering fluids

· Accompanying patient on walks

· Assisting patient to bathroom or chair

· Providing Diversionary activities

· Replacing nasal cannula

· Re-applying intermittent compression devises (ICDs or SCDs)

Patient Companions will remain with, and observe the assigned patient at all times. Patient must be in direct observation. Companions will arrange meal and break time with the patient's nurse to ensure that the patient is never unattended.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE

· High school diploma or GED

· Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.

· Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.
