JOB OPPORTUNITY: TRANSITION SUPPORT SPECIALIST (TSS)

Location: Houston

PART TIME (15-25 hours a week)

This position is hybrid and requires the ability to travel to on-site visits with agency partners, team meetings and in-person duties in the Houston area as needed.

Date of posting: 1.27.25

Salary: $19/hour

Initial appointment term: 10 months

Study title: Charge Up!: Adaptation of Critical Time Intervention for Young Adults with Mental Health Challenges in the Transition from Homelessness to Housing

Principal Investigator: Dr. Sarah Narendorf

Duties and Responsibilities

● Providing direct support to caseload of 8-10 young adults enrolled in the intervention

● Document interactions in RedCap system

● Assist in developing intervention manuals

● Attend regular check-in and team meetings

● Assist young adults in identifying employment and other community resources

Performance evaluation procedure

· The TSS will meet with the Principal Investigator individually on a bi-weekly basis and weekly with other team members to review completed tasks, staff cases and plan next activities. During these contacts the TSS will discuss professional and academic development goals.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

● Lived expertise with housing instability and mental health challenges

● Leadership development experience through mentoring or youth leadership program

● Experience providing support and mentorship to youth

● Interest in providing unconditional support to young adults transitioning to supported housing

● Excellent data collection, data entry and data management skills

● High level of attention to detail, flexibility, ability to work on a team

● Commitment to intervention guiding values of power sharing, authenticity, grace, culture of care, accountability, and systems change.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills

● Post-secondary education including college credits or structured vocational training
