Are you a Tax Manager with a background in Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs)?
If so, our client is seeking a detail-oriented Tax Manager to join their growing team.
This role offers the perfect opportunity to showcase your expertise, collaborate with talented teams, and work on challenging projects in a dynamic and growing organization.
In this role, you will work closely with Sr, Leadership to develop and build out the tax function and liaise with external stakeholders for this growing privately held organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax filings and compliance: Manage and coordinate the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring compliance with REIT regulations and deadlines.
REIT compliance testing: Oversee quarterly and annual REIT compliance testing, including income, asset, and distribution requirements.
Tax planning: Develop and implement tax planning strategies to maximize tax efficiency and maintain REIT status under IRC Sections 856-860.
Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with accounting, legal, and finance teams to provide tax insights and support due diligence for acquisitions, dispositions, and property-level transactions.
Tax projections: Prepare federal and state income tax estimates and respond to ad-hoc information requests.
Accounting disclosures: Manage tax-related accounting disclosures and provide input on tax components for financial models.
Non-income tax functions: Support property and sales tax monitoring.
Legislative updates: Monitor regulatory changes impacting REIT taxation and advise leadership on potential impacts.
Partnerships and structures: Review partnership agreements, joint ventures, and taxable REIT subsidiaries (TRS) for tax implications and structuring opportunities.
External relationships: Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory authorities.

Requirements
Required Experience and Expertise:
Prior public accounting experience at a Big 4 accounting firm is highly regarded.
In-depth knowledge of U.S. tax code, particularly REIT rules (IRC Sections 856–860), partnership and corporate taxation, and TRS structures.
CPA or other relevant certification preferred.
Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
Excellent communication abilities to effectively work with internal teams and external stakeholders.
