Onit Software Development Manager in Houston, Texas
As a Software Development Manager at Onit, you will lead a globally distributed team of engineers for one of our key products. You will organize the release and maintenance of product features and architectural improvements. The ideal candidate will be able to lead the technical direction of both Front End and Back End development while also taking a hands-on role when necessary.
Our application is built on Django, React and PostgreSQL. We are an agile software development shop and believe in automated testing. If you’re a good fit, you will be able to learn and recommend new technologies, languages, or development environments that we need in the future.

This will be a remote only role.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Onit product team to plan, build and launch features for our products
Lead design and use of technology to best solve business problems including performance improvement of existing software
Maintain a strong understanding of AWS and DevOps architecture and be able to take ownership of, diagnose issues with and make changes to our CI/CD process
Evaluate emerging technologies continually to identify opportunities, trends, and best practices to strengthen development practices and improve productivity
Work closely with our UX and Product Management team to craft well thought out user experiences
Work closely with Product Management and provide analysis on complexity and effort required for completion of new features and initiatives.
Deliver software to the market reliably and predictably
Skills/Qualifications:
Degree in Computer Science or other similar disciplines is preferred but equivalent experience will be considered
7+ years of experience in software development with at least 5 years in Python and React
Demonstrated leadership in projects preferably including examples in:
Python (+Django, Flask)
React
Git/Docker/AWS
PostgreSQL
Experienced in UI development
Demonstrated full cycle development leveraging Agile methodologies
Ability to work and develop in Mac/Linux environment
