Responsibilities

Weatherford is hiring a Senior Technician for our West Hardy Road facility in Houston, TX.

Location: 16178 WEST HARDY RD HOUSTON, Texas 77060

The Senior Technician plays a vital role in supporting both the engineering and manufacturing teams. Reporting to the engineering manager, they function as a team member across multiple projects. Their primary responsibility is to implement, build and test electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical assemblies for testing systems related to Rotary Steerable components and products. These tests often require the use of new and unique assembly processes, contributing to the continuous improvement of the final product.

The Senior Technician is expected to collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to create efficient assembly methods. They practice innovative solutions for assembly processes, including new designs tooling and fixtures where necessary. Additionally, the Senior Technician regularly communicates efforts, thoughts, and test results to the engineering team through detailed reports. Proactively providing feedback on potential design improvements and process optimization is a key aspect of this role. The Senior Technician also documents assembly methods thoroughly for future reference.

During product validation and verification, the Senior Technician operates test equipment, collecting relevant data. They are responsible for implementing new test fixtures or modifying existing ones as needed for product or component testing, working closely with the responsible engineer. The Senior Technician also facilitates the work activities of other team members when needed.

  • The Senior Technician assists the engineering & manufacturing teams to arrange and fabricate the means of testing and assembling Rotary Steerable components / products.

  • They reflect his/her efforts, thoughts, and test results via reports to engineering and are expected to be proactive in providing feedback on potential problems and design improvements and process optimization.

  • They develop, improves, and documents a means of assembly for manufacturing, including, where applicable, describe new tooling/fixtures for the product.

  • Reads and write test procedures, standards, and protocols.

  • Gather test parts and equipment to set up tests per given specifications.

  • Ensures that sufficient supplies are on hand to complete test programs.

  • Operates all test equipment, collecting test data as needed for product validation/verification documentation.

  • Follow written design guidelines on existing test fixtures as needed to conduct product or component testing under the guidance of the responsible engineer.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

· High school diploma/GED/C&G/ITI or equivalent.

· 10+ years of working experience in a technical environment.

PREFERRED

· 15 or more years of working experience in a technical environment.

· Associates degree, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in a relevant technical field.
