METECS Network Engineer in Houston, Texas
METECS is an engineering and applied technology company that provides high-fidelity simulation and software development for NASA’s Johnson Space Center. We are seeking a Network Engineer.
In this position you will support the NASA Rockyard and other related testing facilities under the Extravehicular and Human Activities Program (EHP) at Johnson Space Center (JSC). You will perform all tasks related to creating and supporting wireless networks technologies, primarily Wi-Fi and 3GPP. This will involve coordination, planning, designing, operational support, and troubleshooting of wireless devices used during various Lunar based testing scenarios. Additionally, you will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of antennas and any other wireless equipment, as well as coordinating and performing upgrades / relocations of equipment to support the customer's needs.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering (or equivalent experience)
Background in computer networking technology, software, and protocols
Experience in set up and configuration of wireless network hardware
Background in wireless network principles
Experience with socket programming, TCP/IP stack
Experience writing software and scripting
Able to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
Experience working in a lab-based team environment
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of computer networking technology, design, management, tooling, security, and troubleshooting techniques
Experience with Linux scripts
Experience with IEEE 802.11 standards
Citizenship or lawful permanent resident required due to federal position.
