Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a MES/SCADA Network Engineer to join an energy & industrial client in Houston, TX. The role involves designing industrial networks for automation projects and supporting the Engineering department in selecting network and MES-related hardware. The individual must handle a dynamic workload with minimal supervision and design database structures for MES and automation applications. They will develop system concepts based on customer requirements and work closely with the Controls Engineering department to create HMI and MES programs that integrate with control systems. Travel to customer sites for installation, debugging, and commissioning of network and MES applications and equipment is required, though it is less than 20% of the time and typically for periods of two weeks or less. The role also includes troubleshooting and diagnosing networks and MES solutions both remotely and occasionally on-site. Effective communication with customers to understand their needs, requirements, and expectations is essential. Additionally, the individual will coordinate with the Project Manager to strategize milestone completion.

Skills and Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in industrial network design

• Database knowledge and experience (MySQL and SQL Server)

• Experience designing industrial networks

• Experience with L3 switches (CISCO or Rockwell Stratix)

• Experience with SCADA (Rockwell Factory Talk View SE and/or Ignition) - Ability to set up communication hardware and test your design solutions.

• Programming knowledge in Python, Java and/or RESTful Web APIs desirable (or willing to learn).

• HMI factory floor interface experience (FactoryTalk View SE and/or Ignition).

• Knowledge of Industrial Communication Protocols (Ethernet/IP, MODBUS TCP and Siemens PROFINET)

• Experience in designing, testing, and implementing networked systems for industrial automation.

• Experience working for a controls system integrator.
