POSITION SUMMARY:

This position provides Learning and Development (L&D) solutions for MPC salaried exempt and non-exempt employees and ensures these solutions are aligned with business strategies. Working with advanced levels, this role consults with management to analyze and define needs and provide Organizational Development (OD) solutions in the areas of management development, group effectiveness, and interpersonal skills. This position reports to the Leadership and Professional Development Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as a central contact for learning and development programs/initiatives across the corporation to ensure effective use of resources; receives, prioritizes, and leads responses to such requests and initiatives that are aligned with business strategies.

  • Consults with internal customers to analyze performance issues and identify appropriate L&D/OD interventions; determines the subject matter and/or behavior that needs to be learned or changed and recommends the most effective intervention(s) and delivery method(s) (i.e formal training, experiential learning, rotational development, individual or team assessment, feedback, coaching, etc.).

  • Applies a systematic approach to the design, development and delivery of learning and development initiatives; consults with subject matter experts often and in depth to implement successful initiatives. Applies adult learning theory and cognitive learning theory to ensure learning solutions generate performance improvement. Insources instructional design to ID experts in MPC Learning Services. Classroom and Virtual Instructor Lead delivery (when required) performed by the L&D Consultant, internal and/or external subject matter experts.

  • Directs outside vendors and contractors in the design, development, and/or delivery of initiatives; collaborates with personnel in the MPC Supply Chain organization to negotiate with such vendors on the price, administration, and implementation of programs. Responsible for the creation and approval of Statement of Work (SOW) with suppliers.

  • Reviews and analyzes participant feedback, trends, evolving business/functional needs and Talent Management strategies and recommends appropriate changes/enhancements to align priorities, content and/or delivery modes.

  • Advises management of the most effective way to implement corporate learning solutions by monitoring and analyzing modern learning technologies and industry trends, building and maintaining proper relationships with university officials, consultants, and other companies to discuss and exchange information of mutual interest.

  • Builds and maintains collaborative and productive working relationships throughout the Talent Management team, HRBP community, Internal Communications and with business leaders and subject matter experts who share responsibility for success.

  • Manages multiple projects effectively and provides ongoing change readiness, customer communication and support throughout each project.

  • Manages expenses within budget for assigned area(s) of responsibility; aware of approved budget, expenses, actual and forecasted spend.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Applied Training/Learning and Development/ Education, Business or related field required.

  • Six (6) or more years of Learning and Development, Organizational Development or related experience required.

  • Learning/Development/OD experience with leaders and professionals in a mid to large energy sector or industrial organization preferred.

SKILLS:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.

  • Time management skills with a proven ability to meet or exceed deadlines.

  • Awareness of budgets, actual and forecasted expenses for assigned areas of responsibility.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrates perceptive, quick-thinking and has a nimble approach for achieving results.

TRAVEL:

  • Ability to travel up to 25%
