**Infant Job Description

Health and Safety

  • Always provide appropriate supervision for children
  • Hold Infants during feedings (if they are unable to sit up completely and hold their own bottle) to avoid asphyxiation
  • Completes classroom attendance on ongoing basis; be aware of the number of children in your care at all times
  • Adhere to health/safety and sanitation procedures when cleaning classroom materials and changing soiled diapers
  • Follow sanitation procedures after every diaper change and ensure that teacher and students hands are washed, and changing table is cleaned before moving on to the next child
  • Assists calmly in evacuation of the building in an emergency and in practice drills, and can respond to any emergency
  • Label all childrens diapers, bottles, and creams with first and last name
  • Cleans and disinfects mouthed toys before next use, chairs and toys when soiled or at least weekly, mats/cots weekly.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy classroom, ensure that all damaged labels are replaced and set into correct centers
  • Cleans floors, tables, chairs, and sinks after meals, when spills occur, or after messy activities. Sanitize according to infection control guidelines
  • Maintains cubbies neatly, sweeping periodically, and sending home older papers and other belongings.
  • Leaves classroom at end of the day with tables cleaned, and floors free of debris and toys
  • Shares cleaning duties fairly with co-workers and maintains a clean safe and attractive classroom
  • Documents and remains current with state requirements for physical examination, First-Aid, CPR, in-service training, etc.
  • Tidies childrens appearances throughout the day - sees that shoes are on proper feet, tied, hands and faces clean, etc.
  • Supervise children in the classroom and ensure the Texas Minimum Standards are being followed when using feeding chairs. Students may only be allowed in a feeding chair during scheduled feeding times

Safe Sleep Protocols

  • Checks on sleeping infants every 5 minutes
  • Ensure that children are in cribs only while sleeping

``` - Provide a safe environment for children who are sleeping. Children should only be allowed to rest in their assigned crib/mat (no sleeping in bouncers or on the floor/carpet) - Monitor children while they are sleeping and remove hazards from the environment (no bibs, blankets, pillows, pacifiers with hanging clips, or bottles are allowed in cribs)

Create and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and curriculum

Establish and enforce rules of behavior for children in their classrooms
