Purpose : Lead and oversee the Energy & Diversified portfolio in Houston, within Global Transaction Banking (GTB) Sales. Ensures business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

What You’ll Do :

  • Own and deliver against assigned financial targets. Lead and drive a customer focused culture within the assigned industry sector(s) to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.

  • Responsible for the development & profitable growth of the assigned industry sector(s) through sales origination, relationship management, and client servicing. Promotes business development in line with business appetite and Group strategy.

  • Identify, influence, and execute on new strategic sales & products/services initiatives across the full suite of GTB products including payments & cash management.

  • Leverage the Bank’s Americas footprint to connect our primary customers both at the parent and subsidiary level in our core markets, in collaboration with GTB colleagues in each market.

  • Maintain a market profile within the assigned industry sector. Represents Scotiabank and GTB at various industry forums/events and keep abreast of market trends, competitors’ products/initiatives and other areas affecting the assigned industry sector from a transaction banking perspective.

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.

What You'll Bring :

  • 10 years’ experience within the financial services industry with a minimum of 5 years of transaction banking, relationship management and/or treasury finance experience is required.

  • Strong understanding of transaction banking including payments & cash management with an affinity towards new digital propositions including API-based services.

  • Prior experience working within or covering the assigned industry is an advantage.

  • Working knowledge of the North American corporate transaction banking industry is an advantage.

  • Proven track record of originating and successfully delivering business opportunities in payments & cash management and other transaction banking solutions.

  • Proficient in Salesforce or alternative CRM system.

  • Prudent risk and control judgement. Demonstrates strong commercial judgement.

  • Strategic mindset and strong communication skills to drive growth and revenue.

  • University degree, preferably post-graduate and/or relevant professional designation.

  • Spanish language is an advantage.
