Job Description
David Weekley Homes is seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team in a full-time, on-site capacity. As a vital member of our data management team, you will work collaboratively with other technical experts to implement our data strategy. This strategic work is crucial in providing team members with timely, accurate, and relevant data, enabling informed decision-making and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities: Data Architecture Development and Optimization:
Develop and continuously enhance scalable and robust data models to support the evolving needs of the business.
Optimize data architecture to improve efficiency and performance, ensuring high availability and reliability of business-critical data systems.
Architect solutions that support large-scale data collection, storage, processing, and analysis across multiple platforms and environments.
Pipeline Construction and Maintenance:
Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable data pipelines to automate the movement and transformation of large data sets.
Implement ETL/ELT processes that integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring data is accurate, complete, and timely.
Use best practices in continuous integration and deployment to streamline data operations and updates.
Data Integration and System Interoperability:
Ensure seamless data integration across various systems, enhancing data consistency and accessibility throughout the organization.
Collaborate with IT and business units to define and implement data integration strategies that align with business goals and technology frameworks.
Address complex data integration issues, including those involving legacy systems and new technologies.
Collaboration and Technical Leadership:
Work closely with analytics, IT, and business teams to define data requirements and system design specifications.
Provide expert advice and technical leadership in data engineering, sharing knowledge and mentoring team members in best practices and new technologies.
Engage with stakeholders to ensure data engineering projects align with business needs and strategic goals.
Security Compliance and Data Governance:
Develop and enforce policies for data security, quality, and compliance, ensuring that data practices meet regulatory standards and internal policies.
Implement robust data governance frameworks to manage data access, audit data use, and ensure ethical data management.
Monitor and mitigate potential security risks associated with data handling and storage.
Documentation and Continuous Improvement:
Document all data engineering processes, architectures, and decisions for transparency and future reference.
Continuously evaluate and improve data systems and processes, staying ahead of industry trends and technological advancements.
Lead the adoption of innovative data technologies and practices that contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of data management.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Regularly interact with various business units to understand their data needs and challenges.
Serve as a liaison between technical and non-technical departments, ensuring clear communication and alignment of objectives and capabilities.
Provide insights and recommendations based on deep technical knowledge of data structures and system capabilities.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
Expertise in SQL and relational databases.
Expertise in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and workflows in Azure Data Factory and SSIS.
Experience with modern data warehouse technologies such as Fabric, Databricks, or Snowflake.
Experience building data integrations with APIs.
Familiarity working within an Azure cloud environment.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, able to effectively articulate complex technology concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Self-motivated, able to work independently in a dynamic business and IT environment.
Work Location:
This is a full-time position that is required to be on-site. Our office is located in West Houston, near the intersection of I-10 Katy Freeway and 610 W Loop N Frwy.
