Bloom Academy Charter School exists to provide a high quality, rigorous, and joyful educational experience to students in grades kindergarten to fifth grade. We are a new and independent school seeking to add deeply mission aligned, smart, hardworking, and emotionally intelligent people to our founding staff. We opened August 2019 with a cohort of kindergarten and first graders and now serve scholars in grades K-5.

Bloom Academy Chief Operating Officer

Driven by our mission to ensure every child succeeds, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of all non-instructional functions at Bloom Academy Charter School. The COO ensures that the school operates efficiently, remains financially sustainable, and meets all regulatory and compliance requirements. This role partners with the Superintendent and school leadership to create an environment that supports academic excellence and student success.

The Chief Operating Officer will have the following key responsibilities:

Operational Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and implement operational systems to support the school's mission and long-term growth.

  • Oversee daily school operations, ensuring efficiency across facilities, transportation, food services, and safety.

  • Lead strategic planning initiatives to optimize school resources and infrastructure.

  • Coach, develop, and evaluate the operations team to achieve academic and character development goals.

  • Participate in weekly leadership meetings and quarterly retreats to action plan and progress monitor district wide initiatives.

    Financial Management & Sustainability

  • Collaborate with the Superintendent to develop and manage the school's budget.

  • Ensure financial controls, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with funding requirements.

  • Oversee grant management and financial reporting to stakeholders.

    Technology & Data Systems

  • Oversee IT infrastructure, data management, and technology integration.

  • Ensure student information systems, learning platforms, and operational databases function effectively.

    Facilities & Infrastructure

  • Manage school facilities, ensuring maintenance, cleanliness, and security.

  • Plan and oversee renovations, expansions, and capital improvement projects.

  • Establish emergency preparedness and crisis management plans.

Enrollment and Student Information Systems

  • Create and execute an ambitious, yet attainable, enrollment strategy that ensures the school meets or exceeds enrollment targets.

  • Collaborate with the Registrar/PEIMS coordinator to ensure student information reporting is accurate and timely.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • At least 5 years of K - 5 leadership experience with a proven track record of driving results through others.

  • Deep alignment with our school's mission and core values.

  • A staunch belief that all students regardless of race or socio-economic status can achieve at high levels and be positive contributors to their communities.

  • A successful background check in compliance with state law.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with all school stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and social media platforms (Instagram & Facebook).

  • Spanish proficiency is a bonus.
