Job Description

As a Phlebotomist II, you will assist in performing various assigned duties, including trouble-shooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Your responsibilities will include performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontamination. You will update patient information, collect and store specimens according to established procedures, and explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections in a clear and courteous manner. Additionally, you will match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders, and ensure the integrity of specimens by following precise procedures.

Hard Skills

• Valid Phlebotomy certification (as required in some states)

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

• Experience with blood draws, labeling, centrifuging specimens

• Ability to check test requisitions and label specimens accurately

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication skills

• Attention to detail

• Ability to comply with OSHA and DEP regulations

• Capability to handle fast-paced environments

Job Type

This is a contract position with a duration of 13 Weekly.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Hickory, North Carolina.

Work Environment

This role requires working in a lab or hospital setting. You will attend annual department trainings to ensure compliance with current procedures and regulations. Answering telephone calls and reading laboratory results to satisfy inquiries is also part of the role.
