Amazon Manager, TIPM, DC Network Deployer, BaND in Herndon, Virginia

Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Amazon Web Services has an immediate opening for a Technical Manager to manage a team of Technical Program Managers that support AWS Global Brick and Position Delivery's data center scaling initiatives. This manager will work with their peers to own delivery networking equipment for our global data center fleet.

The ideal candidate possesses 5+ years of experience in the area of program management, experience managing complex and large-scale and technology projects (including cost, schedule and performance for portfolios, programs, or individual projects), and developing/improving processes and procedures.

This individual will be responsible for managing a team (5) of technical program managers. This person will work across all levels and functions, with an ability to escalate and drive problems through completion. This individual will own all facets of performance and career management, including regular on-to-one meetings with all team members and both technical and soft-skill mentoring.

Key job responsibilities

• Monitor the networking brick program’s overall progress; anticipate risks, resolve issues and initiate corrective action as appropriate.

• Work with stakeholders (networking engineers/tech program managers/senior management) to define requirements and processes.

• Manage individual contributor job performance.

• Manage the dependencies and the interfaces between projects and negotiate the trade-offs needed.

• Provide program progress reporting on a regular basis.

• End to end responsibility for the program’s execution and success.

• Manage multiple competing projects/programs simultaneously.

• Run meetings, create and maintain timelines, and keep large, diverse groups informed of progress and obstacles.

• Ensure consistency in deployed configurations and track exceptions for follow up.

• Develop and implement scalable, data-driven process improvement/automated solutions.

• Report ad hoc, weekly, and monthly program and operating metrics.

• Keep the customer experience as the primary focus.

• The candidate must also be comfortable managing remote project delivery teams, and possess the ability to facilitate technical whiteboard sessions to troubleshoot project implementation issues and remove barriers to project success.
