RTR Energy Solutions, Inc. Senior Power System Protection Engineer in Hellertown, Pennsylvania

RTR Energy Solutions, Inc. seeks a Senior Power System Protection Engineer for its Hellertown, Pennsylvania location to provide consultation and expertise to electric utilities in the processes and implementation of equipment and construction of assets. Develop protection & control (P&C) detail designs for 230-69 kV high-voltage substations including one- and three-line diagrams, protective relaying & control elementary drawings, panel front views, and bills of material according to applicable Utility Client Procedures. Develop feasibility reports and determine protection required for interconnection of new loads and generation of customers. Perform P&C design review for integrated protection relays (IPR) and point-of-contact (POC) relays installed at load and generation customer stations. Design Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) Axion-based transformer tap changers and develop settings using acSELerator Real-Time Automation Controller (RTAC) software. Support development of new transmission line standards using SEL-T401L traveling wave relay. Support the North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection Standards (NERC CIP) team in performing cyber security testing for relay baselines. Assess patches released by vendors to fix cyber security vulnerabilities and evaluate their applicability.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or related field and 5 years of experience in the following: designing and implementing protection & control (P&C) relay schemes for electric utility companies; conducting North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection Standards (NERC CIP) assessment for electric utilities; reviewing designs and controls of high-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) power systems; using Mathcad software in the design of relay systems; performing  quality  control  checks, testing,  and  accepting  new  assets for utility in  MV & HV substations; communicating design needs to non-technical team members; and coordinating with project teams to effectively meet project schedules and consider budgets and safety in designs. Eligible to work remotely 100% of time.
