Job Summary

The School of Social Work is seeking applications for a Visiting Instructor position for 2024-2025 school year. The position will begin on August 16, 2024 and end on May 16, 2025.  The Visiting Instructor will function as an important part of the School of Social Work team by teaching courses across the MSW and BSW curricula.

The School offers a Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work, both of which require field internships and licensure exams in order to practice. A child advocacy studies minor is also available. The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredits both degree programs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaching courses across the BSW and MSW curricula.

  • Adhering to class teaching schedules.

  • Communicating any concerns or issues with program coordinators and/or the school director.

  • Maintaining a weekly schedule for office hours to assure availability to students.

  • Collaborating with program coordinators and the school director in planning, implementing, and evaluating assigned courses.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have an MSW degree from an accredited program, be licensed (LMSW), and have two years post-MSW practice experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of the Social Work Code of Ethics

  • Knowledge of Social Work Professional and Technical Standards

  • Knowledge of MSW, BSW, and Field Policies

  • Ability to develop educational presentations on select topics

  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensure at the LCSW level

  • Doctorate in social work or a closely related field

  • Teaching experience in a university setting

  • Experience teaching clinical social work courses in a university setting
