The Director, Technology Solutions (AEP) will provide strategic direction, leadership, design and execute annual IT readiness programs for key business cycles at Humana. This position will provide executive leadership to a team of associates and contractors while creating and executing on labor strategies to scale the capacity of the team efficiently to support Humana's growth in healthcare services. This role will provide thought leadership, strategic vision, ownership of IT AEP Readiness program and development of principles and standards for annual readiness programs that can be used for all key business cycles. This role will also create and design processes that enables scale and velocity while maintaining stability and consistency, with a clear line of sight to business goals and strategies

Humana’s technology environment has pivoted from a centralized model over the past several years to a more federated model. This trend will continue and accelerate to the point where Humana’s technology assets and users are spread out over hundreds of vendors, offices, and geographies. In addition Humana contains to expand under the CenterWell umbrella of primary care services through mergers and acquisitions.

The Director of Technology Solutions (AEP) is expected to bring experience in running enterprise readiness programs that has clear guiding principles, defined operating model with roles and responsibilities, strong accountability mindset and transparency in measured outcomes. This position is a senior leader in the Technology organization who can bring the experience of leading a major enterprise successfully through digital transformation initiatives and the experience to develop strategies to execute the vision of how an annual readiness program should be managed and operated.

The most important time for our organization occurs during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) which starts is mid-October through the first week of December and then with the Go-Live date of 1/1 with where our MA and Medicaid plans are open for our members. The AEP Readiness team has performed an amazing job over the past few years facilitating the various teams within IT and reporting on successful work done. We are now presented with the unique opportunity to mature and evolve this program with a year around approach to achieve the desired outcomes of stability, readiness and accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and update the operating model for the IT AEP Readiness Program - define roles and responsibilities, communicate and drive alignment

  • Define performance & scalability - build framework for tracking and reporting on accurate performance, load testing and resiliency exercises through industry experience and internal alignment

  • Facilitate and inspire accountability Mindset - reinforce a culture of ownership with continuous improvement through introspection and retrospection, aligned cadence of leadership updates for awareness and transparency

  • Define and report on measured Outcomes - revisit desired outcomes and measurable metrics for each area, enhance reporting options through real time centralized dashboards

  • Lead, grow, and mentor a team building an environment of teamwork, trust, and mutual success

  • Deeply understand business and technical strategy to proactively identify high-impact programs and key business cycles

  • Partner with product and engineering teams to drive alignment, prioritization, and critical decision-making with internal partners and stakeholders

  • Navigate diverse stakeholder groups, forming and sustaining trusted relationships

  • Build in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across segments and/or enterprise-wide

  • Makes decisions that are typically related to intradepartmental coordination, development and implementation of strategic plans, and business outcomes

Required Qualifications

  • Prior leadership experience leading annual readiness programs in industries such as healthcare, ecommerce, retail or supply chain

  • 5 or more years of management experience

  • 8 or more years of experience in project management, technology engineering or technology product management

  • Excellent communication skills, leadership competencies, and high level of emotional intelligence

  • Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment or good familiarity with the Agile methodologies

  • Excellent cross-group collaboration, outstanding verbal and written communication

  • Someone looking to make a large impact in their next role

  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong executive and people leadership skills; demonstrated track record of building and developing strong teams

  • Experience leading legacy transformations at scale, while navigating complexity and regulatory frameworks

  • Capable of working up, down, and across an organization, effectively navigating a matrix to get things done and push boundaries, simultaneously

  • Ability to lead and create “followership” with an existing and expanding team

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Advanced knowledge of Agile/Scrum/Kanban development methodology

  • Prior experience in the health solutions industry

  • WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$172,200 - $236,900 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
