Job overview and responsibilities

Seasoned Cloud DevOps Engineer that creates, maintains, supports, and improves complex cloud operations for United’s Revenue Systems that runs mission-critical and highly complex modules such as Network Planning, Revenue Management, Cargo eCommerce & with special emphasis around continuous improvement of processes by applying modern engineering principles around DevOps and/or Site Reliability Engineering

This role is responsible for partnering with cross functional application, platform, development, operations, architecture, and Business stakeholders to provide DevOps support for mission critical applications, while helping streamline, automate, and mature existing processes.

Operates with a team of talented nimble engineers and SMEs who bring a lot of energy, focus and fresh ideas that support our mission to provide value by seeing the world “Through Customer' Eyes”

· Designing & developing automation and processes to enable teams to deploy, manage, configure, scale, and monitor applications

· Proactively identifying performance improvements in areas like responsiveness, availability, and scale

· Assisting in building world-class, multi-cloud capable, state-of-the-art products by:

o Automating CI/CD process

o Incorporating security code quality tools e.g. Wiz, Veracode, Sonar

o Helping identify code promotion qualities

o Utilizing and promoting the use of advanced deployment patterns like Canary and Blue/Green

o Building highly resilient cloud eco-systems capable of high availability and scale

o Deploying to public cloud providers primarily AWS

o Developing and maintaining tools & utilities that help accelerate day-to-day activities of operations and support teams

o Partnering with development and platform/prod support teams at the appropriate stages in application development to ensure any new systems or projects leverage enterprise DevOps standards

o Improving self-reliance and reducing dependency on the availability of development or platform/prod support team resources for experimentation and implementation of novel DevOps or SRE automations

o Bringing a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal technology communities, and mentor other members of the team

· Modernize DevOps and SRE mindset to solve problems through systematization

Qualifications

Required

· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field

· 4+ years’ experience in in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering for mission critical applications

· Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

· Experience with cloud platforms primarily with AWS cloud

· Experience with version control systems (e.g., Github) and CI/CD tools (e.g., Harness, Jenkins, Github Actions)

· Infrastructure as code (IaC) principles (e.g., Terraform, Cloudformation, CDK)

· Experience automating CI/CD best practices for critical applications

· Experience with system analysis and troubleshooting in large-scale Linux environment

· Experience with database technology, both relational and NoSQL

· Experience with MQ technology e.g. Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ

· Knowledge of security best practices in a DevOps environment (Code Scan and Security Scan e.g. Wiz, Veracode, Sonar)

· Working knowledge of agile development best practices

· Strong problem-solving and communication skills

· Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship

· Must be fluent in English and Hindi (written and spoken)

· Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

· Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred

· AWS Certified Solution Architect

· Certified Kubernetes Administrator/Developer

· Experience with logging and monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, Dynatrace, Kibana)

· Strong problem-solving and communication skills

· Experience with Harness tools
