Ascension Health Mammography Technologist- Mobile Unit in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan

  • Sign-on bonus: $7,500.00

  • Department: Mobile Mammography

  • Schedule: FT 40 hours per week, rotating days Monday-Friday four 10 hour shifts with occasional Saturdays. This is a mobile mammography unit that services Wayne, Macomb and southeastern Oakland county. There are occasional shifts within the breast center itself.

Responsibilities

Provide mammography imaging services.

  • Operate equipment and perform various mammography related procedures. Prepare and position patientsand select anatomic and technical parameters accurately.

  • Explain procedures and educate patients about the role of regular mammography in preventive breasthealth.

  • Develop and evaluate the film for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, anddistortion.

  • Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines.

  • Ensure prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality,correct lead markers and patient data/history).

  • Ensure equipment is properly functioning. Report potential problems or equipment malfunction toappropriate personnel.

  • Assist in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas,dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date orjob transfer date required. American Red Cross (ARC) CPR for Professional Rescuers card will be accepted upon hire but renewal must be a BLS Provider card from AHA.

  • One or more of the following required:

  • Cardiographic Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Mammography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.

  • Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Additional Preferences

Candidate must be ARRT registered in radiology and mammography certification is preferred. Mammography board eligible candidates will be considered; however, experience is preferred. Mammography certification must be obtained within one year of hire. Experience with screening and diagnostic mammography is required. CDL required within one year of hire.
