Job Description:

We have an opening in the Information Technology Department for a Network Engineer to be based out of the Technology & Innovation Center in Grimes, IA. The Network Engineer is responsible for establishing the networking environment maintaining network performance, and enforcing network standards. Hy-Vee is looking for skilled individuals that are passionate about emerging technologies

Responsibilities:

  • Establish network environments by designing, configuring, documenting, and enforcing network standards.

  • Maximize and maintain the performance of the network.

  • Collaborating with architects and other engineering peers to implement world-class solutions.

  • Maximize network agility through the use of automation.

  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to other Network Admins.

  • Serve as an escalation resource during outages or chronic issues.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a network administrator, engineer, or similar positions.

  • Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining full Meraki stack networks

  • Strong understanding of networking technologies: Meraki, BGP, VRF, DMVPN, QoS, HSRP, RSTP, WAN Optimization technologies, Load Balancers, Cisco ISE, Cisco Routers\Switches, and Cisco Firepower Threat Defense Firewalls.

  • Strong understanding of application layer technologies DNS, SSL/TLS, HTTPS, IPSEC Tunnels, Radius, SSH, etc.

  • Experience with packet-level capture and traffic analysis tools such as Wireshark and/or tcpdump.

  • Experience with scripting & automation skills leveraging bash, Python, or other scripting or programming languages preferred.

  • Active Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent experience

  • Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to act as a technical lead

Physical Requirements:

  • Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near range with or without correction.

  • Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: operating a computer, occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 10 pounds, and occasionally standing or walking.

  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: meeting with customers, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions:

The duties for this position are performed in a general or remote office setting. There is weekly pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a day.

Laptop and desktop computer, telephone, copier, Fax, printer, PC with Microsoft Office programs and other software relevant to specific position.
