Job Title: Continuous Improvement Engineer
Job Description
As a Continuous Improvement Engineer, your main focus will be to execute plant projects aimed at reducing waste and improving the system. This will be achieved through data gathering, employee engagement, problem-solving and innovation. Our goal is to enhance accessibility, product quality, employee safety and morale, while reducing conversion cost in the plant. This role reports to the Lean and Quality Manager and plays a crucial part in supporting our mission and the efficient operation of the plant. Working collaboratively with a team, you will be accountable for enhancing accessibility and reducing conversion cost. Your role has a direct impact on our mission and profitability.
Hard Skills
Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering; Production/Operations Management; or related field
Minimum of 3 years manufacturing/operations experience
Knowledge and proven skills in Lean Manufacturing methods
Proficiency in advanced problem-solving techniques and process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma (DMAIC), flow and the person process, Value Stream Mapping (VSM)
Ability to apply standard industrial engineering practices
High proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Excel, Access, Project) and manufacturing operation systems
Proficiency with MRP systems and Inventory Management practices
Experience leading and implementing lean projects
Experience leading the person events, not just participating in them
5S, implementation, setting up lean processes
Soft Skills
Strong lean manufacturing engineering experience
Ability to engage, collaborate and work effectively with all functional departments
Ability to identify opportunities and advise on appropriate organizational interventions for improving the system and practices
Ability to initiate and drive Continuous Improvement (Lean) activities
Ability to actively participate in New Product and Process Introductions
Proven skills in coaching and training employees
Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Work Environment
You will be working in a facility with 200 other professionals, supporting government contracts. Our production associates are visually impaired, and a majority of the work involves assembling military uniforms/combat jackets, along with two other assembly project lines which include putting together writing pens.
