Salary: $26.03 per hour plus benefits/Range 30 Additional salary credit may be given for internal transfers and recent Greeley-Evans School District 6 rehires, up to $41.73 per hour plus benefits.

Contract Length/ Days: (2023-2024/ 260 Days; M-F 7:00am - 3:30 pm)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Required: High school diploma or GED Valid Colorado driver's license State of Colorado Commercial Applicator License with Endorsements; Ornamental Pest Control #207, Turf Pest Control #206, Industrial and Right Away Weed Control #109 6 months of experience in the application of pesticides and fertilizers to turf and non-turf areas A minimum of two years experience in front-range grounds care or any other combination of related education, experience, and training Preferred: 1 year experience in the application of pesticides and fertilizers to turf and non-turf areas Associate degree in Turf Management, Horticulture, or related education and training

JOB DESCRIPTION Summary/Objective: The employee's primary responsibility is the safe, effective, application of all chemicals related to grounds maintenance. The Grounds Weed Control Specialist is a member of the grounds department and may be required to perform other tasks in the daily routine.

Essential Functions: Operates spray and fertilization equipment. Maintains inventory and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) on all grounds-related fertilizers and chemicals. Coordinates chemical applications with the grounds department manager, building leadership, and irrigation team. Maintains positive verbal and non-verbal working communication and interaction skills when working with the staff and the public. Maintains records of chemical applications. Removes snow and responds to emergencies. Available to work nights and weekends. Assists with other department needs as required.

Additional Qualifications: Knowledge of chemical products and application techniques. Ability to follow established safety practices. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as the chemical label specifies. Ability to follow and understand oral and written instructions. Ability to deal tactfully with staff and the public. Ability to work in a school environment around children. Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, light trucks, and tractors. Ability to perform strenuous labor in all types of weather. Ability to follow and understand oral and written instructions. Ability to perform all functions of the position.

Work Environment/ Physical Demands: Ability to sit for long periods and handle numerous distractions. Visual, auditory, and ambulatory acuity are important. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
