Description:

Position Purpose

Assists with the planning, purchasing, installation and preventive maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies. Functions as a liaison to other departments regarding anesthesia supplies and equipment. Assists the Department of Anesthesia with patient care. Maintains work and storage areas for Department of Anesthesiology.

What you will do:

  • Performs preventive maintenance on all anesthesia equipment; reports any equipment in need of repair.

  • Exchanges carbon dioxide absorber as scheduled.

  • Assists Anesthesia provider with assembly and operation of specialized equipment, including but not limited to

fiber optic endoscopic equipment, rapid infusion equipment, BIS monitor, blood warmers, and Philips Monitors.

  • Responds appropriately to all requests for assistance by anesthesia providers.

  • Communicates and collaborates with other team members.

  • Maintains a supply and equipment book for the department which includes log of service on all equipment, log of issues with equipment, supplies and monitors and log of all anesthesia equipment and monitors being uses in other hospital departments

  • Cleans anesthesia machines, monitoring cords, and carts at a minimum daily and with each turnover

  • Ensures emergency supplies are stocked and readily available.

  • In accordance with unit or departmental practice, assists with the tracking and monitoring of equipment assigned to the unit. Requests services for maintaining equipment as necessary.

  • Consistently responds to pages in an appropriate time frame

  • Participates in room preparation and turnover by establishing a sterile field

  • Collaborates with Sterile Processing to meet the needs of the cases.

  • Verifies with other health care providers that instrument supplies and equipment are available for surgical procedure.

  • Organizes and prioritizes work activities to support unit workflow

  • Prepares instruments for decontamination and cleans equipment as needed.

  • Participates in education of ancillary health care providers.

  • Ensures that all principles of safe transportation are met, including appropriate modes and devices.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Anesthesia Technician Certification; Mindray equipment certification preferred.

  • Experience as an Anesthesia Technician, and Operating Room Assistant preferred.
