Mesa County Support Services Technician - Community Development in Grand Junction, Colorado

JOB SUMMARY:

The Support Services Technician provides professional frontline customer service, technical assistance, research, education, and information regarding the company Building Codes, Land Development Codes and On-site Waste Treatment System (OWTS) Regulations. Provides administrative support to Code Compliance Services through data entry and reporting.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

General:

Acts as primary point of contact for all Community Development customers, contractors and other County employees/ departments.

Assists in answering phone calls and directing caller to the correct employee or department.

Develops a working knowledge of Planning, Building and OWTS processes and paperwork necessary to appropriately respond to inquiries.

Provides necessary forms/applications. Direct customers to other staff members and/or departments as needed while maintaining an emphasis on improving the customer's interaction with our company.

Properly archives new and historical documents by scanning, filing and archiving in accordance to County retention policy.

Ensures accurate information is relayed to other team members or departments when necessary.

Maintains work areas in a clean and orderly manner, and maintains professional demeanor, appearance and attitude.

Ability to prioritize, coordinate, and manage various work assignments.

Ability to accurately reconcile cash, check, and credit card transactions for daily deposit.

Processes all incoming mail with date stamp and delivery to correct employee.

Pursues education and training sufficient to perform and advance job duties.

Oral and written communications must be clear and effective. Inquiries and replies must be addressed with in a timely (same day) manner.

Maintains a more in-depth knowledge of Planning, Building and OWTS Codes, Colorado statutes and other relevant professional standards to appropriately respond to inquiries and perform additional duties as defined for each division

Pursues education and training sufficient to perform job duties including acquiring and maintaining professional certification as required.

Responds to Colorado Open Records requests as assigned by Support Services Manager.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Building:

Intakes new permits and accurately inputs information in current Community Development software. Confirms all necessary documents are included; accurately scans and attaches for review process.

Issues approved permits, accepts appropriate payment and provides a receipt, the Permit and Inspection Card to the customer.

Releases Certificates of Non-compliance and records appropriate document with company Clerk & Recorder.

Directs contractors on requirements for City of Grand Junction Contractor s Licensing Program; disperse and collect appropriate paperwork and answer questions as necessary.

Assists with the City of Grand Junction contractor licensing program; communicates licensing procedures to the general public; accepts applications and verifies completeness of submissions based on licensing type; issues new and renewal licenses, collecting necessary documents to complete process requirements; properly maintains database.

Responds in an appropriate manner to written communication via email or postal mail regarding Building Codes cycles, organizational policies, or procedures.

Prepares expired permit letters and Certificates of Non-Compliance as scheduled.

Planning:

Utilizes and interprets ArcMap, Assessor s website and recorded legal documents to answer questions regarding zoning and setbacks for individual properties.

Accepts and determines completeness of Residential Site Plans.
