We're looking for dedicated individuals to join a great team as Technicians, a critical role in ensuring railcars are in top condition. If you have a knack for working with tools, don't mind heights or confined spaces and thrive in both indoor and outdoor environments, this might be the perfect job for you!
Summary of the Technician position:
- Pay: $25/hour
- Schedule: Monday - Thursday 6 AM - 4:30 PM or 2 PM - 12:30 AM; overtime on Fridays as necessary
- Job Type: Temporary-to-Permanent
Key Responsibilities of the Technician:
- Railcar Maintenance: Assist with repairs and inspections of railcars, ensuring they are clean and dry before and after the blasting process.
- Blasting Operations: Operate blasting equipment to remove rust, scale, paint and other materials from the interior and exterior of railcars.
- Surface Preparation: Prepare railcars for finishing, including caulking, taping and other necessary tasks.
- Equipment Management: Clean, maintain and store equipment properly adjusting and assembling as needed to ensure optimal operation.
- Safety Compliance: Work safely at heights and in confined spaces using safety harnesses as required.
- Team Collaboration: Assist welders, painters and other departments as necessary to ensure seamless operations.
Required Skills and Attributes for the Technician position:
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions accurately.
- Basic math, reading and writing skills.
- Comfort with working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Experience with hand and power tools including blasting equipment, grinders, wire and sanding discs.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions both indoors and outdoors.
