Job Description Summary

GE Aerospace are looking for a Global Senior Commodity Manager involved in several exciting and high-profile programmes, within our Dowty Propellers business.

Reporting to the Global Sourcing and Fulfilment Director, the Global Senior Commodity Manager will be responsible to lead and manage a team of three sourcing specialists and will be accountable for all Commodity activity across New Technologies and New Product Development. Creating and leading strategies for New Product Introduction.

Global Senior Commodity Manager conducts Make vs Buy exercises, develops sourcing strategies and Business Cases based on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), selects sources, negotiates, and manages supplier agreements of various types (Commodity and Service).

Job Description

What will I be involved in?

  • Analyse market related to GE Aerospace’s new technologies and new product development.

  • Assess and select suppliers for new products introduction, including supplier onboarding.

  • Perform suppliers’ capacity and risk assessment for both incumbent and new suppliers for new technologies and new product development.

  • Supplier ranking to develop, implement category strategies to meet programmes timing and cost targets.

  • Responsible for procurement processes RFI/RFQ/RFP.

  • Challenge both suppliers and the organisation to select the most optimal solution based on Total Cost of Ownership.

  • Ensure sourcing process compliance, productivity, optimisation, quality, and fulfilment.

  • Manage Purchase Orders.

  • Partner with Product Management and Sourcing Category management (European and or worldwide) on Suppliers scouting.

  • Establish a competitive and robust commercial position with new and existing suppliers on long term supply agreements or project specific supply contracts linked to new technologies and new product development.

  • Work closely with the delivery programmes, business services, design, and production teams to enable the timely delivery of projects to clients.

  • Support the business in proposals and tenders by developing a competitive and harmonised supply chain position as part of a competitive and commercially viable proposal and tender response.

  • Be the first point of contact to facilitate communication across Engineering, Quality, Sourcing, and Programmes for new technologies and new product development.

  • Perform cost and price analysis, develops negotiation strategies, and leads negotiations to create value for money outcomes for procuring goods and services linked, related to new technologies and new product development.

  • Produce business cases/ material presentations for senior leadership reviews.

  • Work with suppliers and functional stakeholders to achieve collaborative partnering, strategic relationship management to deliver required service level KPIs.

What we look for

Essential:

  • Analytical minded.

  • Focus on details and quality.

  • Bachelor’s degree with related experience

  • MCIPS (Level6 or 7) / MBA / B.Eng / M.Eng / MSc or equivalent.

  • Significant procurement experience in direct procurement in a manufacturing/production-based environment, ideally within automotive or aerospace.

  • Experienced negotiator with a proven track record of supply base management (strategy, sourcing, and cost).

  • Strong influencing skills with experience of creating and maintaining networks across all levels of the business.

  • Ability to develop and implement multi-system strategies to optimise cost, rationalise supply base, minimise risk and deliver increased value in technical attributes/performance.

  • Proactive, well-organised, independent, dynamic and a team player.

  • Excellent communications skills both orally and writing.

  • Ability / Experience to manage a small team with focus on policy and strategy implementation, along with operational plans with measurable contribution towards the achievement of results of the sub-function.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within the aerospace environment, specifically in the areas of procurement and supply chain management.

  • Good understanding of the civil and military regulations pertaining to aircraft parts and aerospace materials.
