TITLE: Elementary Teacher
STATUS:Full Time, School Year
HOURS:30-35 hours per week, shift times and lengths may vary
WAGE: $19-$31 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
LEAVE: Paid Holidays and up to 4 weeks annually of Paid Time Off
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Reports to the Executive Director and receives direction from the Education Manager, while still maintaining a high level of independence in carrying out daily responsibilities and tasks.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:The Elementary Teacher is responsible for planning and teaching lessons in a mixed-level classroom using a service learning approach and the assigned curriculum. In addition, this position would take the lead role in student record keeping, parent education and conferences. This position is responsible for cultivating a safe and nurturing environment where children can grow physically, emotionally, socially, intellectually, and spiritually. The Elementary Teacher upholds and promotes the mission, vision, and values of the school as an integrated auxiliary ministry of the Glendive Alliance Church (GAC).
- Have or are able to obtain current certification for hands-on infant, child and adult CPR and infant choking response, and standard first aid
- Exceptional verbal, written, electronic communication skills with a variety of stakeholders
- Exhibit an understanding of and sensitivity to children's needs and development
- Meet state immunization, background checks and health attestation requirements
- A solution-focused, proactive, consistent approach to classroom management
- Positive, gracious, and service-minded attitude at all times
- Basic computer skills including email, word processing, Excel etc.
- Current Montana Elementary Education Licensure
- Bachelor's Degree in education or a related field
CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:16 hours of approved training annually and Montana Teaching License renewal
