Aerotek Tool Room Manager in Glendale, California

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsibilities

· Establish a ‘Global Vision’ encompassing

organizing departments (grinding, EDM, polishing, etc.), planning workflow

through these departments, developing a tooling production planner, and

reducing lead times wherever possible.

· Implement SOPs focused on standardizing training

practices, sharing of machinery, and effective transition of work between

day/night shift.

· Overseeing implementation of Tool Room

Trainee Program. Mold makers will handle individual training while manager will

facilitate evaluations, arrange for outside education, work with HR to locate

potential apprentices, and to ensure training is being carried out effectively.

· Create a ‘team’ environment particularly

conducive to attracting, motivating, and retaining next generation employees. I

firmly believe that this environment will not develop on its own and needs to

be cultivated through incremental challenges, exposure to other departments,

clearly defined career goals/path, and the sense of being part of something

greater than just the ‘tool room.’

· Identify and remove roadblocks to the efficient

flow of work through the shop.

· Identify new technologies and propose machinery

required to implement these technologies.

· Setting up controlled storage and organization

of consumables to eliminate time currently wasted looking for tools.

Qualifications

· Experience with CNC machining and building mold

tools

· Experience managing a large tool room or mold

shop or experience running a mold making business

· Desire and aptitude to train and motivate the

next generation of mold and tool & die makers

· Understanding of workflow management

· Experience implementing SOPs

· Exposure to composite molding, rubber molding,

or die casting a plus

· Working knowledge of MasterCAM a plus

Shift

  • 1st, with mandatory OT

Location

Pay

  • $90k-$100k DOE

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $70.00/hr.
