The Charles Evans Center (CEC) is a leading not-for-profit organization located in Nassau County. CEC serves adolescents and adults with addiction and behavioral health needs. We assist clients in achieving their highest level of independence and functioning with the freedom to ASPIRE HIGHER in their hopes, dreams and accomplishments. We are currently seeking a few exceptional professionals who have a passion to create a meaningful impact in the lives of the amazing people we support.
Peer Advocate (CRPA)
The Peer Advocate will provide peer support services based on clinical need as identified in the client's treatment plan. We are looking for a part-time Peer Advocate with "real life experience". You will extend care with dignity by serving as a role model to support the recovery goals of our clients.
In this position, you will:
Provide orientation, engagement and education, peer support, advocacy and linkage of services to individuals and their families.
Offer outreach, mentoring and recovery support services to those seeking or sustaining recovery.
Accompany clients to medical appointments, court appearances and other support services as needed.
Assist with applying for benefits/entitlements.
Models effective coping skills and help peers self-monitor their progress.
We require:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
NYS OASAS Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) certification required.
Relevant life/lived experience in addiction treatment services.
Must have transportation and be able to travel through Nassau and Suffolk County.
