Do you have a passion for habitat creation or site restoration, do you want to work on projects to deliver biodiversity benefits? Are you looking to work on engaging projects with a supportive team of experts?

We are seeking a new team member to join our growing team of enthusiastic and experience, BNG specialists, botanists, and ecologists.

The role could be based out of either our Glasgow or Edinburgh office, you would be working on range of projects located throughout Scotland (including the Highlands and Islands).

We are a dynamic and friendly team based from our Edinburgh and Glasgow offices, working closely with a range of interrelated disciplines including Natural Capital specialists, arboriculturists, landscape architects, hydrologists, our historic environment experts and geotechnical specialists.

  • Input into client proposals for biodiversity advisory services and assessments of large and complex developments, often in collaboration with other disciplines and our Natural Capital team.

  • Undertaking field surveys across a range of project sites throughout Scotland (including the Highlands and Islands).

  • Undertaking BNG calculations using the Statutory Metric(and other client specific BNG toolkits) using Phase 1 habitat survey or UKHab survey data.

  • Input into a range of ecological deliverables including: BNG assessment reports, habitat management plans, strategic BNG plans, GIS shapefiles.

  • Undertaking literature reviews and preparing research reports.

  • Client liaison and project management.

  • Developing habitat creation plans to enhance biodiversity.

  • An appropriate academic qualification in a related discipline and are member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management at an appropriate level (mentoring is available for upgrade to Full Membership).

  • Experience and understanding of: UKHab habitat types and terminology; use of Metrics to undertake biodiversity net gain assessment. Botanical field skills desirable.

  • Knowledge of relevant policy and legislation and differing approaches to BNG assessment.

  • Experience of co-ordinating ecological projects, include awareness of budget control.

  • Good GIS skills.

  • The ability to work in a team of ecologists and environmental professionals.

  • A desire to develop your core ecological and consultancy skills in a supportive environment.

  • Experience of habitat creation and preparation of habitat management plans. Knowledge of peatland restoration desirable.
