Job Title: Mechanical SME/Construction CoordinatorJob Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Subject Matter Expert and Construction Coordinator to manage and facilitate mechanical building system startups and commissioning activities. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of safety procedures, mechanical installations, and prevailing building codes, and will work closely with contractors and equipment vendors to ensure successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
Facilitate mechanical building system startups and commissioning activities.
Review product and equipment submittals, shop drawings, engineering design drawings, and contractor-generated RFIs.
Ensure compliance with safety procedures, safe work practices, and OSHA requirements, including Lock-Out, Electrical Safe Work Practices, Control of Hazardous Energy, and arc flash safety.
Coordinate with building construction contractors and equipment vendors for equipment factory testing, delivery, installation, commissioning, and handover to end users.
Coordinate weekend and plant shutdown work with contractors, plant facilities groups, and manufacturing shops.
Conduct continuous work progress inspections.
Support construction administration activities related to schedule coordination, quality confirmations, weekly coordination meetings, and planned utility outages.
Inspect mechanical building systems for compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes.
Oversee mechanical contractors to ensure adherence to project delivery methods, schedule milestone targets, and coordination with other groups.
Prepare field engineering status reports of work progress and schedule for Project Managers.
Provide input and feedback to improve project technical specifications and standards.
Communicate technical matters effectively in written and verbal formats.
Multi-task, manage time, and prioritize project commitments based on established deadlines and project milestones.
Implement building construction projects to support site.
Coordinate construction scheduling and communication.
Manage daily construction and RFI support for construction projects.
Act as liaison between in-field construction and project management.
Responsible for estimates, schedules, materials, and purchase orders as needed.
Supervise construction activity in the field.
Coordinate weekend/shutdown work plans with contractors, facilities, NAMC shops, PC, and PE.
Work with vendors and contractors to coordinate equipment delivery, installation, and scheduling.
Monitor equipment installation methods to confirm that installation meets specifications and drawings.
Coordinate RFIs and CCRs.
Essential Skills
5+ years in construction management.
Experience in industrial construction and project management.
OSHA 30 certification.
Expertise in contractor management, safety, project planning, and technical reviews.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Extensive knowledge of prevailing building codes and professional industry standards, including IBC, NEC, NESC, NFPA, AMCA, ARI, AWS, ASHRAE, and FM.
Ability to effectively communicate technical matters in written and verbal formats.
Strong multi-tasking, time management, and project prioritization skills.
Work Environment
This position operates on the 1st shift within a manufacturing facility and requires the employee to be fully onsite. The work environment is dynamic, with a focus on collaboration between contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $98.00/hr.
