Within Sanofi, the Procurement function is a powerhouse maximizing savings to fund the company’s future growth. The Chief Procurement Officer is reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, member of the Sanofi executive committee. The Procurement organization is divided into five Domains (Manufacturing & Supply, Marketing & Sales, Professional Services, Scientific & Medical and Digital) leveraging Global Procurement Operations and the Procurement Center of Excellence & Transformation. The yearly spend coverage is around 15B€ with a special focus on Procurement excellence, Supplier Diversity and Sustainability. Closely collaborating with Finance, Business Operations and Business Units, Procurement is instrumental in achieving cost efficiency and savings. Procurement plays a critical role in optimizing Business Operational Impact with a focus on driving simplification, efficiency, and productivity. It forges strategic partnerships with suppliers, prioritizing innovation and data driven solutions.
Within the Professional Services Domain, the Global Lead Buyer “Consulting Services” is responsible for the categories of spend in his/her portfolio about 220+ M€ per year to develop and supervise the implementation of sourcing strategies according to category management roadmap as well as leading sourcing activities across all business units at global level and lead suppliers relationship management with the Global Category Head.
In this position, the Global Lead Buyer “Consulting Services” will manage global sourcing and global demands incoming from the business throughout the categories as stated hereafter, with the support of regional/local regional procurement teams by leveraging the preferred suppliers panel defined in the sourcing strategies. He is accountable for optimizing BOI and deliver best in class savings target year over year.
This position focuses on the sourcing of Consulting Services including but not limited to Management Consulting, Strategy Consulting , Operations Consulting, Marketing Consulting, while ensuring compliance with our Global Procurement SOP, SRM including Suppliers Risk Management, and DE&I.
The scope of this position is global for all entities of Sanofi Group. This position reports into the Global Category Manager for Corporate Services Procurement.
Main responsibilities:
Strategy & Governance:
Set-up robust approach and governance with senior leaders to ensure proper usage of Consulting Services aligned with strategic objectives
Develop and execute category strategies based on market intelligence, assessing risks and opportunities, fully aligned on budget & Long Range Plans, delivering value to the businesses, enhancing the user experience actively engaging key stakeholders and lead specifiers from the businesses
Deliver year over years best-in-class total savings objectives
Ensure mastery of Procurement technical excellence (Total Cost of Ownership, Supplier Relationship Management, Market Intelligence, Risk Management, Innovation, CSR, HSE, compliance, quality)
Develop global supplier market expertise
Establish effective ongoing relationships with senior stakeholders and procurement local network to ensure effective categories strategies design and implementation
Anticipate and consolidates all business needs to carry out worldwide negotiations on specific sub-categories for a global strategic sourcing strategy, with regional implementation plans
Deliver robust Supplier Relationship Management including Global Business Reviews & Performance Management with identified key suppliers
Ensure sourcing practices are in accordance with corporate ethics, financial policy and internal control requirements
Operations Management:
Manage Global category procurement activities and interact with regional and local procurement network including Demand Management, Source-to-Contract, Performance Management, SRM.
Category Management
Stays informed on current industry trends and new market developments related to his/her category area
Undertakes benchmarking against other industries and best practices
Defines, build and update sourcing strategies for each nature of spend in his/her scope
Ensures the implementation and operational follow-up of action plans derived from the strategies in close collaboration with the procurement network and stakeholders
Delivers savings pipeline in line with targets
Demand Management
Engages upfront leaders of Global Business Units and Support Functions to assess their demand
Elaborates a demand plan aligned with the strategic objectives of the Business and category strategies
Builds a solid project and savings pipeline during budget cycle and maintain it throughout the year
Constructively challenges the demand and shape it in a way that would deliver the most value for our businesses
Source-to-Contract
Leads global RFIs/RFPs and contract negotiations for his/her domain/category
Designs and executes competitive strategic sourcing through bidding process for global projects to obtain the best overall value-added solutions from candidate suppliers
Partners closely with Legal, Compliance, Internal Control and Finance teams towards successful completion of complex global scale negotiations
Supplier and Performance Management
Develops, enhances and monitors supplier relationship performance through regular supplier business and performance reviews with the support of key stakeholders, service owners & contract managers
Runs robust Supplier Management with business reviews & performance management
Ensure mastery of Procurement technical excellence (TCO, SRM, Market Intelligence, Risk Management, Innovation, CSR, HSE, compliance, quality)
Others
Ensures Due Diligence corporate process is properly implemented when necessary and manages compliance throughout the various Third-Party engagements
Develops and educates internal clients on best-in-class procurement and sourcing processes
Reports on status, savings, performance, and risks on the sourcing activities you are in charge of
Works closely with Procurement Services to leverage as much as possible the middle and back-offices services
Stakeholders Management:
Lead Stakeholders management to ensure business needs are properly and timely met
Engage upfront main Business Partners of Global Business Units and Global Functions
Ensure proper Business Partnering at corporate level, with Global Business Units and Global Functions , as it pertains to their respective sub-categories, ensure adequate lead specifier profile for the sub-categories
Leverage Country Procurement Heads to ensure procurement strategies are applicable at local level
About you
Experience:
- 10+ years' experience in Procurement or related area of expertise (e.g. Finance, controlling, P&C services)
Soft Skills/Technical skills:
The position requires sourcing professional skills with a strong ability to develop relationships within and across the different lines of business and throughout the Procurement organization, including transversal / project management skills as well as management skills in a multi-cultural environment:
Technical knowledge of the category/domain
Results oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Analytic advanced skills for data crunching purpose (Excel, Power BI, Thinkcell etc.)
Good understanding of finance and legal aspects
Flexible, receptive, resourceful, creative, and results oriented

- Minimum Master's degree from an accredited College or University
