NiSource Transmission Pipeline Integrity Engineer (TIMP) in Gary, Indiana

This position is located within the NiSource Northwest service territory with preference for Valparaiso, IN.

Pipeline Integrity Engineer 1

As part of the NiSource Transmission Integrity Team (TIMP), Engineer I provides technical expertise to solve problems, improve processes, and provides direction of work in a specific area of his or her expertise, with supervision and oversight. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise

  • Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities

  • Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches

  • Exercises critical thinking and problem solving skills

  • Continually improves job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance

  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities and resolve problems/issues

  • Maintains accurate records and files

  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally

  • Seek and incorporate feedback from internal and external stakeholders

  • Actively seeks creative solutions and enhanced efficiencies

  • Provide support for commission audits and preparation

Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of experience utility experience or equivalent

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college/university program.

  • Demonstrated understanding of basic engineering/technical theories and principals.

  • Demonstrated understanding of basic practices of researching technical design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations

  • Written and oral communication skills

  • Organizational and planning skills

  • Valid drivers license

Desired Qualifications

  • Understanding of/experience with basic principles of project management

  • Desired engineering disciplines include civil, mechanical, electrical, and industrial

  • Experience in the utility industry

  • Engineer in Training certificate

  • Working knowledge of industry codes, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures

  • NACE Certifications-Level 1

Pipeline Integrity Engineer 2

As part of the NiSource Transmission Integrity Team (TIMP), Engineer II provides technical expertise to solve more complex problems, improve processes and provides direction of work in a specific area of his or her expertise, with some supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence.

  • Provides technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise

  • Demonstrated understanding of basic practices of researching technical design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations

  • Advanced written and oral communication skills

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Provide support for commission audits and preparation

Pipeline Integrity Engineer 3

As part of the NiSource Transmission Integrity Team (TIMP), Engineer III provides advanced technical expertise to solve complex problems, improve process and provides leadership to manage the work of others in a specific area of his or her expertise, with minimal supervision. Provides project management for small projects. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise. Leads small projects.

  • Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities

  • Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches

  • Advanced critical thinking and problem solving skills, including providing coaching and training of others.

  • Continually improves job-related, engineering, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance

  • Ability to build key partnerships and increasing ability to influence individuals in key external departments and resolve problems/issues.

  • Maintains accurate records and files

  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally

  • Seek and incorporate feedback from internal and external stakeholders

  • Actively seeks creative solutions and enhanced efficiencies

  • Increased responsibilities in coaching and mentoring other professionals

Qualifications

  • 4-9 years of experience utility experience or equivalent

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college/university program

  • Advanced in engineering/technical theories and principals.

  • Advanced in basic practices of researching technical design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations

  • Advanced written and oral communication skills

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Advanced working knowledge of company and industry codes, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures

  • Demonstrated leadership experience over complex programs or projects

  • Experience in providing support to commission audits and inquiries

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced understanding of/experience with principles of project management

  • PMP Certification

Salary Range:

$77,400.00 - $160,500.00
