Description/Job Summary

SUMMARY:

The Process Tech I - Automation is responsible for the beginning set-up and/or automation processes for production, with emphasis on measures to increase productivity, efficiency and utilization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively communicate with the shift Supervisor, other departments and other shifts in regard to part quality, equipment, special instructions, corrective action and productivity.

  • Coordinate warehouse activities to insure that raw materials and outgoing pallets are on-hand and readily available to maintain production.

  • Respond to machine alarms and take corrective action involving quality issues, processing and or minor machine, mold and auxiliary equipment repairs.

  • Actively participate in Total Housekeeping Management.

  • Provide technical assistance in maintaining expected levels of productivity in order to fulfill scheduling and quality requirements.

  • Assist in shift operations as necessary and be proactive in contributing creative and/or innovative ideas for continuous improvement in addition to assistance with special projects as assigned.

  • Complies with government regulations in adherence of EPA, MSDS, Lock/Out-Tag/Out and all other proper safety standards.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years of prior plastics manufacturing experience; one year of technical training on injection molding machines and/or automation equipment preferred; strong mechanical aptitude is required.

  • Must have good verbal communication skills and basic writing skills to complete reports and various forms and documents.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format; must be able to add, subtract, measure, and perform basic math functions.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Must have regular, reliable attendance and willing to work outside the regular schedule as required.

  • Willing to handle job stress and interact with others in the workplace.
