Job Description:

The Florida Museum of Natural History is seeking a Post Award Accountant. This position maintains and monitors all fiscal transactions and account ledgers of the Florida Museum of Natural History’s approximately $30 million budget. Compiles data and prepares a variety of reports for the Assistant Director of Finance and museum administration. Monitors spending activities in grant projects and works with PIs closely. Performs other budgetary and administrative duties as needed.

Maintains the integrity of accounting records of Museum grant projects from beginning of the project to the close out; reviews and analyzes fiscal transactions charged to sponsored awards to ensure compliance with cost principles as defined in the Uniform Guidance and individual award agreements. In the event charges are incorrectly assigned to sponsored awards, performs research and makes corrections after working with Museum HR and fiscal staff, and PIs. Collaborate closely with Museum HR to identify and document personnel resources committed to specific projects or initiatives as part of cost share agreements.

Reconciles monthly transaction details incurred in all PeopleSoft chartfields of Museum. Researches and analyzes errors or missing supporting documents for the transactions. Works with fiscal and HR team and other Museum departments to resolve issues.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional evening and weekend work.

Expected Salary:

$60,000-$65,000; commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelors degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certified Public Accountant

Ability to complete work according to scheduled deadlines.

Knowledge of PeopleSoft.

Accuracy and attention to detail are essential for this position.

Strong background in accounting, finance and other fiscal responsibilities.

Ability to post, balance and reconcile fiscal records.
