Job Description:

The Department of History is seeking an undergraduate student assistant who is eligible to work immediately with the expectation to continue through Fall 2024, assisting department faculty and staff with office transitions and general clerical duties. Based on performance and continuance of funding, this employment opportunity can be extended into future semesters. Applicants must be able to commit to working 8 or more hours per week and must be dependable, detail oriented, and exhibit professionalism always.

This position will assist faculty and office staff and report directly to the Office Manager.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Processing records for disposal

  • Lifting and moving boxes of books and records

  • Assisting with office moves for faculty members

  • Answering and routing a multiline phone

  • Greeting and directing visitors

  • Data entry, filing, and scanning

  • Handling and processing of mail/packages

  • Maintaining office supplies and equipment

  • Assisting with department events

Expected Salary:

The hourly rate range is $13.00 - $14.00 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Available to commit 8 or more hours per week during normal business hours

Ability to manage time and commitments including scheduled work hours

Ability to follow detailed instructions

Must be able to lift 25 pounds

Preferred Qualifications:

Good customer service skills

Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)

Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
