Responsibilities
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
Exemplifies the Berry Behaviors and Values at all times. Leads by example and exhibits professionalism in all areas when representing Berry inside and outside of the plant.
Work in a professional manner with other maintenance personnel and mold technicians as needed to keep all equipment in top working order resulting in only quality product being released to the customer.
Troubleshoot, remove and replace different types of electronic, electromechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and optic systems.
Pre-inspect parts or equipment to be repaired to determine what parts, supplies, forms, tools, tool repair and shop equipment are required; and communicate with Maintenance Manager.
Read programmable controller information to diagnose complex problems.
Diagnose and repair AC and DC motor controls.
Replace belts, pulleys, cables, chains, bearings, gears and related equipment.
Communicate with other plant personnel when requested to, to review deficiencies.
Accurately log all work performed.
Maintain work areas in a clean orderly manner.
Operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
Perform PM’s, cleans and lubricates molding machines and equipment
Modifies, repairs, and rebuilds plant machinery and equipment
Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair
Visually inspects and solves problem machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions
Measures parts to detect wear, misalignment or improper operation
Documents repairs and maintenance of manufacturing equipment
Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
Potential duties may also include: Fabrication and installation of related trades; performing building maintenance; and general facility repairs
Performs installation of new equipment and or relocation of equipment
Understanding of the functionality of relays, motor contactors, motor starters, solid state relays, soft starts and variable frequency drives.
Familiarity with operation and troubleshooting of PLC programming
Ability to read, interpret, and trouble shoot using schematic diagrams
Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
Experience in electrical distribution and machine controls ranging from 24 to 480 volts AC/DC
Safely perform plant lockout/tagout procedures, electrical safety, hazard communication program, personal protective equipment and other safety programs and apply these procedures when working on equipment.
Other duties and/or jobs as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent and 2+ years industrial maintenance, manufacturing, technical school &/or Associates degree from an accredited technical institute or combination education and experience.
Regularly required to stand for long periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
Good hand-eye coordination is required.
Frequently required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
Frequently exposed to fumes, or airborne particles.
Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
Good communication skills--verbal and written; musteffectively communicate with employees, vendors, and customers.
Independent in working effectively with little supervision; self-starter, displaying ability to work and deliver results in a fast-paced, performance driven environment.
Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work as a cross-functional team member.
Independent in working effectively with little supervision; self-starter, displaying ability to work and deliver results in a fast-paced, performance driven environment.
Extensive knowledge with electrical, hydraulic and injection molding machines.
Strong PLC programming skills.
Ability to train others and work as a cross-functional team member.
