What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: Generally responsible for performing all aspects for complete design of electrical/instrumentation assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. This level is expected to assist in the design of larger and more complex electrical/instrumentation assignments. This work will be performed under general supervision.

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Completing Electrical & Instrumentation Designs for Project Team Lead’s (PTLs)

  • Designing and developing electrical circuit and system layouts for electric power distribution.

  • Designing and developing process control loops, including loop diagrams and schematics.

  • Work within a team of document control personnel in-charged to identify and organize facility maintenance drawings.

  • Developing and enhancing new and current circuit solutions.

  • Forecasting electrical & control panel costs.

  • Preparing specifications and test requirements documents.

  • Prepare and issue various electrical and instrumentation packages (Issue for Bid/Review/Construction)

  • Ensure that electrical and process control systems work effectively, safely, and in an environmentally friendly way.

  • Completing administrative duties and delivering high-quality customer service, such as consulting with clients, scheduling appointments, and managing paperwork.

  • Provide support during the initial design phase.

  • Diagnosing electrical and process control issues by reading diagrams and blueprints.

  • Identifying and mitigating safety hazards, code violations and other electrical issues.

  • Organizing and maintaining electrical blueprints, diagrams, and other design documents.

Ideal Background

Education: Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is required.

Certification: Certification is not required at this level.

Experience: This position requires 7+ years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation drafting and design

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Performs all duties in a safe working manner, following all safety policies and procedures.

  • Stay current with electrical code.

  • Onboarding and training helper and apprentice electricians and organizing workflow.

  • Autodesk CAD & Vault experience required

  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E required; knowledge of NFPA 497/499 preferred

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Ability to self-manage and adapt quickly to changing demands.

  • Ability to operate safely and within site guidelines.

  • Knowledge of function-specific information systems

  • Ability to kneel, squat, bend, crawl, reach, and negotiate small spaces.

  • Ability to work OT as needed.

  • Effectively communicate both verbally and written with operators, engineers, vendors, and leadership.

  • Client relationship management.

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time..
