Participates in the daily operation of stabilization services with provision of various clinical and therapeutic activities. Essential Functions: Provides clinical role within the interdisciplinary team as well as management oversight to caseload, including provision of assignment of caseload to counselors and preliminary oversight of caseload for completion of admission activities. Monitors electronic Compliance Center for pertinent due dates related to billing operations Provides functions related to telephone screenings, mental health assessments, case management needs, clinical interventions, and may assist with functions of orientation, treatment planning, and discharge planning as needed. Provides individual and group counseling pertinent to population served. Addresses and documents client behaviors and daily progress based presentation of mental health concerns. Provides consultation to other staff to aid in presenting, identifying and treating mental health problems and/or emotional disorders of individuals. Provides review and evaluation of dually diagnosed individuals during pre-admission process as well as assessments related to trauma, suicide risk, and mental status examinations. Arranges for exposure to and information about community resources and acts as a liaison between the individual and the community as necessary. Provides interventional crisis therapy as situations arise. Demonstrates ability to identify high-risk clients and subsequent implementation of appropriate safety protocols. Acts as advocate for individuals with justifiable circumstances in regards to communication with outside agencies and programs. Performs ongoing correspondence and relationship building. Assists with unit-based performance improvement initiatives and identifies opportunities for training and improvement. Participates in all necessary activities to insure payment for treatment services by insurance/managed care companies. Maintains statistical data and prepares any necessary statistical reports. Demonstrates proficiency with utilization of standardized assessment tools. Demonstrates functional knowledge in the use mental health diagnoses and basic medical terminology. Assists with staff training as needed. Attends all applicable departmental meetings. Maintains the confidential nature of the department. Follows agency policy in regards to attendance. Follows agency policy in regards to lateness. Complies with dress, appearance standards for position. Interrupts and reports suspected abuse to an administrator immediately. Understands role as mandated reporter. Keeps immediate supervisor and/or Director apprised of significant issues. Requirements: NYS licensure required: LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker) or LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) One (1) year experience with the population preferred. Requires knowledge of the principles and methods of substance abuse and mental health counseling. Requires a good understanding and ability to incorporate the psychiatric rehabilitation philosophy in working with individuals. Computer literate; able to learn and integrate new programs into daily functions. Good organizational skills. Maintain valid NYS driver’s license within agency criteria. Salary Range USD $36.50 - USD $51.00 /Hr. The salary range or rate listed does not include any differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
