Honeywell Quality Engineering Technician in Freeport, Illinois

Position Overview:

The Quality Control Technician is the person responsible for organizations to enforce all quality system procedures and ensure that their products and services meet quality standards. Plan and implement quality control mechanisms in an organization.

This position exists to perform checks and physical testing; if apply; for the different process/products at the plant. This testing includes routine in house process tests as well as customer specific testing.

The incumbent will assist with the verification of outgoing quality of products shipped and for maintaining accurate records of the findings and is a vital person in the plant overall quality program. Extremely close attention to detail and accuracy are requirements of this position. Any mistakes made could lead to severe process problems and financial loss. Once trained the technician works with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Audit the control plan and report any deviations, as needed.

  • Perform audits of out going quality of products shipped and maintaining accurate records of the findings and reporting, as needed.

  • Communicate to the floor team all the internal/external quality issues.

  • Lead containment action process for internal findings (8D’s Methodology).

  • Release products & process.

  • Audit the proper training of the personnel.

  • Provide assistance on quality criteria doubts over the shift.

  • Performing testing as per plant in house procedures, customer specific requirements and regulatory requirements (CE, NFPA, ASTM / EN, etc.), as applicable.

  • Process Customer return, per process requirements.

  • Perform Gage Calibration, Track calibration due, schedule calibration, as needed.

  • Assist in writing and revising Standard work.

  • Assist in performing ISO 9001 internal audit and 5s Audit, as needed.

  • Assist QC department to help cover during vacations, absences etc., as needed.

  • Commitment to plant 5S and continual improvement initiatives.

  • Back up other Quality personnel, as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Process returned material from customer.

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Degree

  • Minimum of 1 year of Quality Control experience.

  • Must be proficient in the use of personal computers with spreadsheet and word software and PC skills such as physical testing software programs.

  • Intermediate math skills (multiplication, division, percentages, ratios).

  • continuous improvement mindset.
